while certainly more than the LS you got, this is a pretty sweet example here ($37k):

^^^ RWD ones are super rare.  Could be a great buy if it wasn't for suspiciously low mileage and a missing carfax.

I have found that with some Jag XJs too, but it is normal. Very, very low mileage because they are the 4th vehicle in the fleet, or the owners are very old and don't go anywhere...
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Did a fluid change, new brakes, some little things here and there, and she's sorted for the road. Threw the winter wheels on too, because there's officially salt on the roads here.

Things left:
-Triple beam LED headlights from the LS600h on the way
-GROM Vline wireless CarPlay module ordered and on the way
-Needs a new rear bumper because old people... it was poorly repaired and the paint match is unacceptable to me. Should be done by Monday.

Impressions vs. the LS430:

Many like Rrocket will say that the LS430 was the last "bespoke" feeling Lexus, where everything felt handmade and just overall more luxurious. I'll disagree, and say that while the LS430 feels extremely nice, the LS460 feels nicer in just about every way. The interior is about on par for me, and the more modern driving dynamics of the LS460 are absolutely worth the premium to me. Plus, I never really grew to like the LS430's slab-sided looks (always looked like an Asian copy of the W140/W210 Benz to me), and the LS460 has looked spectacular since the beginning. Cliff notes; the LS 430 was fantastic, and I loved it, but once you've had a 460 you can't really go back.

Looks great.   I may be in the minority, but I prefer the chunkier looks of the 460 vs the 430.   Also think the silver suits it nicely.

Very nice

The car looks great

I did consider a used one of these for a few minutes but I'm a little risk adverse even though I know these tend to be very reliable. Plus it didn't meet my frugal fuel formula.

It's beautiful, man.  I really, really like it.  When you say 'once you've had a 460, you can't go back', I take that to mean you drove the old man's 460, then yours didn't love up to the experience anymore?

Could you imagine if Lexus had offered one of these in Shooting Brake form?  That would be the perfect automobile.

It certainly is a lovely car.  As TheHire suggested, I prefer the 430 interior to this gen 460. But then I prefer the 460 interior 2013+.

I think if I was going this generation, it would be a 600HL...or the very rare 2010 LS460 Sport (pre-cursor to the F-Sport).

But yep...agree with everything here.  VERY Lovely car to drive and own.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I really liked the LS430, but having driven the 460 a couple times over the years, I agree that it's a better overall car. The interior feels larger and more modern, handling is a little more composed, and I also agree that the 430 always looked a little awkward to me. In fact, I prefer the LS400 looks to the 430. The 460 is a great looking car though, if a bit on the generic side.

I think I perhaps liked one of the more awkward LS....I totally dig the 1998 version.

I agree...the LS460 IS the better car.  But my preference was merely the interior.

430, 400, 460….can’t go wrong with any of them. I was so tempted by a minty 460L a few weeks back at the sale, but paused as there was a tidy $12,000 hit on it. Enjoy that beautiful ride!

A light front end or rear hit can get up there with these...especially with the sensors.

I did $2500 on my car and I merely hit a raccoon and cracked the fog light and bumper cover.

I actually agree in that the 1998-2000 LS400 (like my first one) is a timeless design. We have a couple of clients at the shop with minty ones and I look twice each time.

PS - my anonymous grandpa barge got a compliment at the gas station from an older gent filling up his new LS500h.

I half think that's the way I'd go if buying a new LS....yea, the V6TT makes more power but I'm not fond of it otherwise.  On the other hand, I don't like how they complicated the transmission on the hybrid.

But I must confess...I REALLY like the ES300h.  Would be a dream driving that back and forth to work with legit great gas mileage.  I'll take mine in Ultra trim!

Congrats on the new wheels!

One of my favorite Lexus models (I would take mine in black). Nothing beats a silky Lexus LS V8 as a DD.

This is a timeless, elegant design, the last of its kind I think, before Lexus went Darth Vader on them.

Happy motoring!
