Actually I think I already posted about his future car in another thread, but the auction is not done yet...

Wait a second...doesn't The Hire write car stories for Double Crutch?  And yet...the poetry leaves much to be desired...more effort next time.

And, if we're going to burden him the the guess of a 300 - could we at least burden him with a proper 300? (apparently it's a de-badged SRT)

Now THAT would be proper old man silver fun to drive commuter.  Your chariot has arrived Mr. (spit) White.

The colour is called "Bright Silver Metallic"

The colour name points to Hyundai, Kia and Stellantis.

I have solved the riddle : Hire bought Bubba's Sonata !!

If Firm was involved in looking it over it's likely one of these Grandpa cars.

I'm thinking something like this.

Quad's on it, down to the wheels.

I got a 2009 LS 460. But not just any LS 460; this one was originally owned by Mrs. Hire's late grandfather. After he passed in 2016, we sold the car to one of my good friends and put grandma into a new Mercedes. He had a kid and had to move to an SUV, so it was up for grabs. I couldn't say no, because it's immaculate. Needs the rear bumper repainted, but is perfect otherwise. Has 130,000km on it, and I have every record since 2009.

Same package as my dad's car, just old man silver. Has the factory air ride, Mark Levinson stereo, heated and cooled seats front and rear, etc. I'll be tinting the windows this week to offset that, putting in the Grom wireless CarPlay module that I have in my dad's car, and a few other little things. Both sets of tires are within ~2 years.

I would have loved to keep the LS 430, but there'd be way too much redundancy, and it was barely enough of a delta to move to this car to even touch the wallet. Here's the problem - she'll never let me get rid of it... especially since it still has grandpa's home address as the "Home" in the archaic nav, and a bunch of other familiar locations in there as well.

Hey, hey, hey....We've had this discussion a few times on the forum here. Big SUV does make infant hauling much easier....From new born to about 2.5 the amount of 'stuff' that needs to come with the tiny little kid is just staggering....strollers (the fancy ones are huge!), blankets, toys, change bags, if you're visiting people you bring a bassinet, booster seat, etc. Can you do it in a sedan - of course, does it make the task even more irritating than it already is, absolutely....We had an 84 Camaro when I grew up, we all lived.

I also think there's more to it than just the kid though....For most people having that kid means a transition to more of a family lifestyle more roadtrips, sports stuff (not me...but people do), etc. It's also the point in most people's lives where they own a home and start to 'nest' or take on bigger DIY projects.

Last weekend, which was fairly typical, I hauled a 400lb armoire on Saturday and a 4x8 sheet of 3/4 ply + 60 2x4 studs + the wife and kid on Sunday. Now, I happened to have a pickup truck presser which I used....but in the absence of that the Escalade would've done the job just fine. Neither of those tasks would've gone down with a sedan, or even one of those crossover units.

If you can't fit what you need for an infant (or two) in the trunk of a large car like a DTS or LS (or smaller car)...you need to rethink things.

That's not what I said...at all. Course it fits, it's just not as convenient. The DTS is also useless for hauling furniture, lumber, drywall, etc....you know, the stuff people with kids might want to haul.

It’s amazing that my daughter fit in a Subaru Justy until age 5.
I also carried drywall on a roof rack, the Justy looked like an aircraft carrier

So there was no need for drywall or furniture before the kid then? LOL

Unless they're bringing drywall or furniture with them?
