This thing is finally showing signs of a failing brake actuator, one of the most common (and most expensive) fixes to an LS. Even at my cost, looking at at least $1,000 to have it repaired or replaced. Just hit 150,000km, but we've seen these actuators fail at as little as 80,000km too. Serious design flaw here.
If I opt to have it repaired, downtime will be a couple weeks as I have to pull the part and ship it to a supplier down south. Replacing it altogether might be an option, but have to shop around for pricing.
So you are complaining about a $1000 part and want to ship it for repair (?!), wait for part to come back, have the car disabled for weeks....
Why not do what you preach and handover the keys to your guys and get it done pronto... It's not like you have to spend a lot of money on this car for repairs anyway...
No no, pulling it out isn't the problem. It's 1-2 hours of labour for the job total. Getting the actual part is $1k and it's back ordered for a few weeks, so it would take the same amount of time to send it out and get the thing rebuilt. But yes, downtime is a real problem with my daily that I'd like to avoid.
Did some hunting around, going to just order the new part; looks like there are a few available stateside from Lexus dealers that would cost a bit more but get here within a week.
