Neat cars. The Type S with the stick was a screamer, I like them a lot.

From what I remember from when these were new, insurance on the CSX was actually cheaper than comparable Civics simply because the CSX wasn't called "Civic". There were a ton of these around the U of T student parking lots when I was there.

Aside from oil consumption, the only issue I've seen on CSXs is the clear coat peel on the hood, roof and trunk. I think that may have been limited to '06-08 cars.

Haven't seen any oil consumption with my K series engine but the clear coat is peeling on the roof, ugh. Seems to be an issue with all Honda's of this age.

That generation of Civic was the first generation that they started using an environmentally friendly paint.  I think it was water-based or some such junk.  Anyway, I think it took them a few years to refine the process.

^^^ It afflicted the 9th generation Civic too. A fellow down the street has a black 12 sedan . Clearcoat starting to peel on the roof ,hood and trunk. My car is white and has not suffered the same fate yet. Before that I had a 07 Fit in red,it turned pink.

I think it goes down when you turn 21 iirc.

But a newly licensed driver is open season for insurance companies here. And some of them won't when allow Collision insurance on the car.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Years of experience helps as well. My son's insurance on the Mazda 3 was only $1550, but it only has comprehensive, no collision since that would cost a :censor: ton more & the car was only $2k. I had him insured on my policy for a few months as well before he got his car, so that counted as experience, albeit very little.

Was odd..when checking cars, most in the entry level class would cost the same to insure.

Except Cobalts...which were considerably more for some reason.

Nice pick up for rrocket jr! I have nephews who have no interest at all in driving, let alone driving a manual. Boggles my mind, lol

My son costs about $1300/year as an occasional driver on a worthless vehicle. No accidents, no tickets but 17 and male.

We weren't allowed to do that.

I was able to say the Mazda MX-5 is a seasonal car so him and I share the Elantra. Which is true nicely enough.

We have more cars than licensed drivers in the house.

So any newly licensed driver in the house is automatically assumed to be a full-time driver on one of the cars.

And that was that.

I suppose that's why generally young kids insurance is so high...high risk, inexperience, accidents, etc.

And I'm sure greed plays into it too...
