Topic: 2022 Volvo V90 Cross Country B6

So this is somewhat odd. The Volvo V90 and V90 XC were discontinued in Canada after 2018. They kept selling them in the U.S. (V90 special order only) and just recently announced that they are discontinued for 2022. But inexplicably, they have brought back the Cross Country for Canada for 2022 in B6 trim. No mention of this model on Volvo's web site but they're already at dealers.

The B6 is the 48-volt mild hybrid version of the T6 engine; some '22 Volvos also offer a B5 model which is the same setup with the previous T5 engine. I believe these engines actually have slightly less power than the previous ones.

I'm curious as to what prompted Volvo to bring this model back after a three year hiatus. Perhaps they're losing a small amount of customers to the A6 allroad and the Mercedes E450 All-Terrain?

They found some extra parts lying around? They can ship the 20 they will sell to Canada.

I guess if you want a very exclusive vehicle this would be a great choice.  I wonder how many total will come to Canada.  If you get to buy one you'll likely never run into another one on the road.

A few days before getting the R I drove a brand new XC60 as a loaner. I was sufficiently impressed that when I got my car back I stopped and discussed prices etc. with a sales person.  Certainly affordable and the Volvo dealer would have done the same buy back ( for a friend who wants my Volvo) as the VW dealer did.

I was tempted.

I really liked the new Google infotainment system and the mild hybrid seemed to be very smooth.

We've had our '22 V90 Cross Country for 4-ish months now. The Google infotainment system is the single worst part about the car.

I find the ubiquitous Volvo 4cylinder to be an agricultural lump. Sort of back to their red block roots I guess. Volvo is off the list though since money flows back to the CPP.
