RRocket's Vintage Dual Sport Project
« on: August 04, 2021, 06:08:17 pm »
Well, here it is.

1975 Honda MR250 Elsinore.  Everything is there.  Starts, runs, drives.  Needs some elbow grease and some attention to details and it should be real good for hitting the local gravel roads, laneways, trails, etc

Definitely a nostalgic purchase...my very first bike was a 1975 Honda MR50 Elsinore.  This is the bigger, street legal brother.  Pretty cool that it shares some of the magnesium parts from its legendary CR250R brother.

It's insanely loud...this is a bike that could :censor: off entire neighborhoods!!    :rofl2:

Only real sore spot for me will be getting the ding out of the tank.  I'm sure that won't come cheap.

Just a few quick shots.  And as always, sorry for poor quality.

OMG, I was actually going to guess an Elsinore for a lark - but, the Moto version.

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

Would be super cool.

I look for them...but rarely see them.  MR250 seems to be even more rare.

You just planning on a restoration or some modifications?  Looks like a fun project and could keep you entertained until you buy you 50th bday dream car.

Love it man, looking forward to hearing how you enjoy it.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Just restore and ride...not much to do for mods...apart from fitting 250R cylinder/head/carb.  I mean, I could put modern shocks on and whatnot.  But not doing that.

I'd love a period correct Bassani exhaust for it....that's about it.

Sweet!

Nice ride. You should be able to repack the exhaust with generic kit? Did you get "street" title for it? I would be real tempted to do a disc conversion for the front if you plan to ride it.

Full street ownership (which is really hard to find).

I haven't had the exhaust off yet...no idea about repacking.

I'll leave the brake as is...I'm just bombing around on the untraveled roads out my way.

No.

There were 3 Elsinore versions:

CR250R (motocross)
MR250 (enduro)
MT250 (dual sport)

I have the dual sport version.

I was wondering if it was the trail or the "street scrambler"
