I'm a big fan of vehicles that have more space than their footprint suggests.  I really like these, and glad someone is bringing something different and funky to the market.

Yup, like the Mazda5, right?  These kinds of vehicles are perfect for families of 4/5 running around town.  Flip the 3rd row down and you can do a hardware store / Costco haul no problem.

Exactly.  Loved my Mazda5 for that.

And it's no surprise I went Mazda5 into a Golf Wagon.

I would like to see and I know it would be impossible to do it for sale, a 2 litre air cooled 4 cyl in the back of the Buzz.

Or maybe the GTI engine in front driving either pair of wheels.

Such a good looking body wasted on an electric motor

It was always designed to be electric from the ground up. VW is going to change complete over to EV's in the next 10 years. EV's are not slow, most are very quick, loose your license quick. more than makes up 2 liter.

As someone who appreciates cars with a large cargo area to footprint ratio,I really really like this.

They should sell well for VW.

In the article:  VW electric offerings we're expecting to see mileage numbers around 260

Is it Kms or miles? Assuming miles as its a US article. If its Kms then it's very poor. I would buy this if it were available today

I think this is so cool and functional and practical, and the footprint/space ratio is amazing.

I'm far too tempted by this as a wagon replacement despite being single...

Yeah, looks like a win for Vdub. Nice to see they seem to have captured some of the retro after all

I once almost bought a Sienna due to the same exact logic  :D

Allocations/factory orders late October.
Demo unit coming November.
First deliveries by end of year.

Oh trust me we bitched and moaned over the price, were close to pulling the trigger on a Kia EV9 Land, but we really wanted the ID.Buzz more and it just so happened that the VW dealer really wanted our business. We were verbally promised no dealer markup, whether they make good on that promise we shall see, but I think between range and price, VW has taken away the dealers' opportunity to markup the unit. 2/3rds of those who were interested seem to have taken a step back. I do expect lower trim levels for the 2026 year in line with USA trim levels.

I do question some of VW Canada and USA's equipment decisions, hoping our resident VW insider might have some background, or maybe tell us the heated windshield which is standard on Canadian ID.4's was omitted from the spec sheet in err.

It's a very cool vehicle and a great concept, but I personally can't get over the price and the performance.  I'm not overly shocked that they are okay not marking it up as I'd expect that there is a very limited market for this vehicle now that the price and the performance has dropped.

But as I always say, buy what makes you happy and if this ID Buzz is it, go for it and enjoy every minute you get to enjoy driving it.

ABS-based TPMS  That's one thing VW/Audi does right - no in-tire sensors! Subaru does away with TPMS altogether up here.

https://www.vw.ca/en/models/new-vehicles/2025-idbuzz.html

We opted to drop the heated windshield from the market for a variety of reasons. The main one is that unlike ID.4 which uses a film-type heated windshield, Buzz uses a wire-type. These wires are visible in certain light conditions - especially at night - and can be an irritation to drivers. Myself and my team spent quite a bit of time at the wheel and experienced it. This, coupled with some other factors, led us to remove it from the spec for Canada fairly late in the process.

On the bright side, it should also mean less expensive replacements for the windshield, but bear in mind it's still a huge piece of glass.

I've driven the car extensively in -20C and below. The defrosters are plenty powerful and instant-on thanks to it being an EV. I will not miss the heated windshield.  ;)
