Initial pictures look good and definitely an improvement over the current 3&4 series.  It'll be interesting to see if the manual will be available for both engine choices.

Very nice. The current 2 series coupe looks fantastic. Perfect proportions.

The 1 and 2 series coupes are the best looking recent BMWs.  Looks like they won't be messing with a successful formula.

I am not a fan of the looks. No manual?

I think it looks worse than the current 2. The current model's lights are very flat at the rear; this looks blobby in comparison.

So far no confirmation of a manual being offered, but it is hinted.  If there is every going to be a normal (non-M) BMW with a manual transmission offered this 2 series coupe would be it I'd think.  The looks won't be for everyone, and I'll agree that the old 2 series coupe is better looking, but compared to the current 3/4 series this new 2 series is a stunner.

This story from yesterday says "official" at the top, for what that's worth.

https://www.autoblog.com/2021/07/06/2022-bmw-2-series-reveal/

Pretty much a universal dislike for the changed BMW styling direction on the front, starting with the 3 - 4. The fact that the grill isn't a 3 - 4 grill is headline stuff.

I have always loved the m240i. Came close to buying one last time, it had what I felt was the perfect engine and 8 speed auto. Kinda small a few years ago, both interior and trunk. I see its a bit bigger now. I could live with this quasi new style grill, its just passable as it isn't the Edsel/3-4.

I don't like that BMW has sealed everything and forced expensive routine and non routine maintenance only at BMW. Also there continue to be the run flat tires as mandatory and no spare, which is a deal breaker for me.

Definitely no manual in Canada since we're only getting the xDrive models. Outside of M models the manual BMW is dead in North America.

Love that new purple that it's offered in. The boxed fender flares look great too, and I think the front is great. Not a huge fan of the taillights although they do remind me of the Z4 M coupe a bit.

Non RFTs are available with one of the optional wheels but still no spare.

It being small is kind of the point. I don't think there was really any reason for this to grow. If you need something bigger there's the 4-series.

Well crap, so it's likely not just the death of the manual in non-M cars but also the another knock on RWD vehicles.  It's too bad because a manual RWD 240i with over 380hp would be a real hoot to drive.

The front sorta reminds me of a KIA. Not that it's a bad thing.

My father is pretty sure he's going to order a 2022 M240i in white.  Here's hoping he follows through!

Interested in your comment about sealing everything. What kind of things have been done that would force work to just be done at BMW?

I see the embargo on the reviews just ended on the new 2 series.  Loads of youtube videos out right now reviewing it.  Looks pretty epic and sounds very good also.  Love that purple color.  BMW is stating 0-60 number of 4.1 seconds but everyone is getting under 4 so far in their testing using launch control, so in typical German estimates it's under estimated.  Just too bad there isn't a manual, but hopefully the M2 will get that and lord know just how fast that will be if they are getting numbers around the 3.8 seconds to 60, could we see a sub 3.5 second M2?

Really looking forward to driving this one someday.  I'm not in the market, having just bought an older E82.  The F22 doesn't do much for me, but I could see one these in my future in  +/- 5-10 years.
