Looks have more in common with the new Frontier than the current Taco but I think Nissan did a better job design wise.  Looks ok though.

Meanwhile, last night just for the hell of it I priced up a F-150 Powerboost.  Seems the only trim it's offered on is the Limited and it came to over $105K!  :o  Hopefully the new Tundra will offer a phev option in the lesser trims.

I think it looks fine. Don't know what you girls are talking about.

You can still get the powerboost on an XLT as ling as you pick the s/crew.  Probably end of year restrictions, because you could build an XL in spring with the PB too, and now you can't.  Probably change once the 22's start building...assuming it's not also chip related.

Maybe Ford should take 15 years to develop a drivetrain so it’ll last more than a year without going in the shop.

Whatchootalkinabout Willis?  Mine's 8 yrs old and only been in the shop twice...timing chain both times...because for whatever reason someone can't design a timing chain to last over 100,000 km  :banghead: ( :P worse than Honda's old Civics  ::) - at least you were guaranteed to get 100k out of those and that was it).  Otherwise - unless I'm forgetting something - it's been flawless (112k now).

The looks are...meh, I still think the 1st gen was the best looking one by far. Hope this is another 500k km/15 year old minimum design like the old ones and they don't screw up the reliability with the turbos/direct injection/V6 and all that hippy crap.
Lighten up Francis.....

I really liked the first gen as well.  Like this one:

Oops...too late.  Isn't that the only offering? (so far, or so far as we know?)

^ Really shows your level of intelligence Tauri. Yes it took 15 years to develop this mediocre exterior design. It had absolutely nothing to do with the current gen being a financial success as it was or development of other components

Maybe Ford should take 15 years to develop a drivetrain so it’ll last more than a year without going in the shop.
Shows your level of bias….

15 years later, Toyota should be releasing at least an all EV truck…as it stands this design is already behind the competition lol but that’s okay, Toyota will sell a few to all the people with perceptions like yours.

Not sure how you can say this design is behind the competition - we have basically zero details on what the new Tundra will be, and what Toyota may have planned.  A couple of spy shots, lots of guessing and conjecturing from various automotive media types, and that's about it.

Anyway, it's all moot point for me.  I'm not looking to replace my truck anytime soon.  Any interest I have in this newest generation of Tundra is purely from a fanboy perspective.

Really, same applies to me.  My '07 is still pulling and hauling great.  (now I've set myself up for a major repair ;D)

I think they've announced the full release will be be this Sunday Sept 19.
Sunday huh, kind of a random day to do it.  I wonder why Sunday was picked, is there some kind of auto show happening, maybe in conjunction with Nascar event?

Yeah football would also make some sense.  Just seemed like a random day to pick.  But any news is good news on this front.

Needs a bigger grille.  :P

Also disappointed in the hybrid not using a PSD.

For some reason, I don't think truck owners would be down with a CVT-like experience

i'm not sure that would work for a truck (towing large loads, etc).
