Can see that. Fills a big niche with no rivals, sort of like the first Chrysler minivan

Hopefully it sparks competition

that would be great.  a little toyota truck,  maybe the mazda comes back with theirs.

Definitely Ford have found a market niche. Who knew ppl needed a small inexpensive truck for everyday chores, business and going outdoors that is easy to park, cheap to maintain and that goes 40 miles on a gallon of gas?  ;)
that's what the small trucks used to be (S10, Ranger, etc).

Those trucks never got 40 miles to a gallon though, especially the V6 versions. Hence why everyone opted for the the full size. I know not everyone wants a full size though but....
The 4 cylinder versions were closer to 35 but were/are gutless. I have one of those.  :-[
oh, i know they didn't have hybrids, but you could get basic affordable 4 cylinder trucks back the day...Rangers (and Mazda) had the 2.3L and the S10s had a 2.5L (?)...when i worked at Pizza Hut in the late 80s, our delivery truck was a base model Ranger, automatic, 4 cylinder...it was $13k...perfect for their use...FFD to today, and the US has the base Maverick Hybrid for $20k...that's the perfect vehicle for fleet use (and i don't mean that in a negative way).

A truck to deliver pizzas ?   I would think a car would be much more efficient.
drivers used their own cars, so the Ranger was only used in a pinch...however, it was used if you had to grab something from one store to the other, or if you needed to transport a LOT of pizza (off site event).
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.

yea, most modern auto plants are like that now...keeping the supply chain beside the plant removes delays in shipments...in many cases, the product literally only needs to "ship" 1-2 blocks away.

It looks good. For my purposes I would want the hybrid AWD (not available yet but sure it will come at some point) and to haul two dirtbikes it needs 72" from from front of box to edge of tailgate in down position. It has 54" box length so it needs 18" of "hinge gap" and tailgate. It will be close..

Motortrend references 72" in down position so it just may work.

Tom Voelk's review is also out:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sw2S17jeBG4

overall, looks like Ford did a good job with picking a lane and for the most part, staying in it...the Hybrid models look like winners for the non-hardcore truck people...if it comes out with AWD down the road, that will only broaden it's appeal.

Maybe it's me, but thus far the reviews/photos I've seen the interior looks cheap.

Ford interiors have never been a strong point. Bigger thing is if the reliability is decent. The latest Escape is bottom of the pack IIRC

Wouldn't you expect a truck at this price point to have a cheap interior?

I've seen interior at similar price point that doesn't look as cheap.

I mean..it might not be cheap (good quality materials used)...but it looks cheap to me.

Which truck you talking about at this price point with a nicer looking interior?

Doesn't have to be a truck.

There are plenty of "cheap" cars/SUvs without cheap looking interiors at a similar price point.

it is rather "basic" or simple...but i think some truck buyers may be ok with that (durability of materials?).
