But yea...doesn't change the fact that EVs suffer in winter.

No argument here, my point was only that ICE’s too suffer in winter, if differently.

Too early to blame the Volvo, we don’t know yet if it was bad fuel which caused it; but I’ll let you know when we find out.

Fuel consumption does suffer, no? It sure did in all the ICE's I've had in the past; and yes, before you say it, even worse on EV`s !  ;)

So for the Volvo it was the air flow sensor which was acting up. Outstanding service from the Volvo dealer I would say. We dropped it there yesterday without an appointement when they were still closed and before 10 am this morning it is fixed.  :D

Fuel consumption does suffer, no?

Winter idle warm up really knocks the mileage down.  But once up and running I think it's a wash because AC compressors are usually off.

I think the problem with newish Volvos is that their vehicles are comprised of a basket of Zhejiang Geely parts from you know where.

The question is; are Volvos still top of the safety tree?  Current deal from Volvo for a mid level XC90 is $1360 mth/48  80K km limit.   But of course can only be driven under a bumper to bumper warranty.  Like all most all Euro cars.

I think they still are, at least in the leading group.

Just an example here

You may be right about the sensor, the fact that the dealer had it in stock tells me it must fail quite often.

A lot of people were stranded back in December in Edmonton when cars wouldn't start in that -40 cold snap including my partner's.

Oops.

Gotta keep that supply tight  ;D
Of course. They’re starting to pile up on dealerships lots.

I’d take a range liar over gas at $2 a litre any day!

It's like companies exist to make a profit or something.

It doesn't matter, the cost of private self-propelled transport is getting insane either way.

They're not, our elected government officials are by apply taxes (both on the consumption and production ends) that intentionally raise the cost of gas as an effort to reduce consumption. Until we elect officials who share the public's desire for affordable, market based, fuel pricing (ha!) expect the price to only continue to increase....and don't blame the oil companies for it.

At -40 if your ICE car is plugged in, it will start, if it doesn't, a boost will get it going. Do they suffer a mileage penalty, absolutely, but quick swing into a gas station and badabing, badaboom, 5 minutes later, I've got hundreds of more kilometers of range. You cannot sell me on sitting at a charging point like an anxious teenager with their phone on 3% battery waiting for a charger.
Lighten up Francis.....
