Who cares what you have read on the internet, did you test drove the Lightning yourself? With and without a trailer?  How was your range?

Not necessary.  Check out Hoovie.  Jay Leno has invited him on Leno's Garage a couple of times.  Hoovie and the Car Wizard; what makes America great.

Besides this towing video Hoovie, did a Lightening review @32F or slightly below.  Disaster.

Ford has a really good chance of going broke over their EV push.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nS0Fdayj8Y
Hoovie’s purpose was to discredited EV trucks all together…and all EVs for that matter. It works well for him because it feeds the resistance movement…

Ford cut the price of the F-150 Lightning after raising it a few times. Base XLT now starts at $69k CAD down from $79k.

Manufacturers pushed the price up as far as they could and now they are getting resistance from consumers. Not surprising.

Add $16K for the extended range battery which obviously one would need and it's $2400 mth lease on a 48 mth term tax in (Ontario).  Or $2K mth for 60 mths on a loan.  Cash purchase is essentially $100K.

Who cares....you won't have to put gas in it! Charging is nearly free, right?

Great news! Back to what it started when I bought it…
Interest rates are eye watering now though - $567/bi-weekly [emoji28][emoji28][emoji28]

BUT a similarly equipped F150 XLT is $457/bi-weekly

The Lightning is back to being an excellent deal, specially if you’ve got incentives and cheap hydro rates.

…most people don’t tow…that’s 80% of the population.
If one were to really break down the various use cases for 1/2 tons, you’d find out an EV one wouldn’t work in perhaps 10% of the cases…

One would have to be a fool to ignore the amount of money you can save and still keep the utility of a 1/2 ton.

If you don't tow on the regular, then why own a truck?  A CUV with a trailer does all the hauling a pickup does.

Look!  I've gained 100% of the utility of the Ford Lightning -more, in fact, as it's an 8' trailer, for a fraction of the price.

Heck if you have to go EV, then a Mach E will do just fine.

Ok, so 80% of truck owners don’t tow. I’d bet that 80% also don’t care what it’s costs to fill. And 80% don’t want to spend 10-20k more for a truck that really can’t tow (the 20% that do tow probably want to go more than 200km hitched up) just to not have to buy gas. It’ll go 0-60 in 4 seconds and is quiet, do 80% of truck buyers value this?

This thing was so hellfire amazing they wouldn’t be putting big discounts on them. Remember less than a year ago when the hype was a level 10 they were selling well over invoice. The inventory for loaded F150 ICE models is still low, yet the EV twin is piling up in dealer lots. The platinum Lightning I got a ride in back in April is still at my local Ford dealer. Hard pill to swallow at over 100 grand.

Been a hard pill for Ford to swallow too, since they lose money (lots of it) on every EV sold.

That’s part of the process - you get the ICE people to pay for the EV transition and investments. It’s the same approach Tesla took, took them years before they reached profitability….

There are price reductions, no discounts - these are inline with other reductions Ford implemented for the Mach E…stock numbers for the Lightning are well below the ICE version…

Also stock was expected to occur - Ford was scaling up! No surprises here at all…!

What’s really killing the market overall is high interest rates - I wouldn’t have bought one @8.99%…

Car sales are starting to go down the toilet…

But it doesn't keep the utility of a 1/2 ton.  And all I see in the West are trucks towing.  And doing truck things.  And driving in -20C weather for long distances.

Huh?  Tesla sold ICE vehicles first to transition to EV production?

Even your comments are debadged.

There's also a massive difference:  Tesla was developing brand new vehicles from the ground up.  They didn't have an existing platform they could electrify.  They didn't own any manufacturing facilities, or existing supplier relationships, etc.  The amount of startup and on-going capital they required was massive.

On the other hand, Ford just took an existing platform, (F150) and electrified it.  They're able to share the development costs of the F-150 Lightning amongst the rest of the gas-powered trucks, sales of which greatly outnumber the Lightning.

Even the Mach E just took a modified C2 platform from the Focus, Edge, etc, and modified it for electrification.

So for the Lightning to still not be making them any money, well, just goes to show it should be a lot more expensive than it actually is.

Ahhh so much resistance and arguments, and this and that…

Give up people, gas will be $3 soon and some of you might have no alternative but to convert [emoji41][emoji41][emoji41][emoji41][emoji41]
