Dent buys a semi convertible thing 2017 Mazda MX-5 RF GT
« on: April 14, 2021, 04:07:29 pm »
So I bought something sight unseen, a few hundred kms away as usual. This time it runs and drives so well it will make it home under its own power. No trailer required. I pick it up on this Saturday. As a forum tradition dictates I am obliged to throw out some unhelpful hints so people can guess. And recite poetry. In my case how about some Vogon poetry? (see https://hitchhikers.fandom.com/wiki/Vogon_poetry for the under educated)

Arthur Dent has a yearning for the open road
His towel is ready but his motorcycle was crashed then sold
He needs a new character filled stead that is hopefully not a toad
So guess at what it might be but make sure you are bold

So some oblique hints?

Its not a motorbike as I probably will take a little break from those
I plan to keep it a long time (really)
Its got a few more features than the cars I usually buy
I still have the Mustang but the middle boy has been mostly driving it. The new one has a manual transmission and should a little more fun.
I owned this make before but not the model.

Damn. I was really hoping you'd bought a VW Thing.

Under 10 seconds, eh?  That basically eliminates nothing from the nineties and up.  Good Job.  Really narrows it down  ;D

Well, it also eliminates most of his Russian and British marques

A Mazda 3 manual?

A marque that he's already had, but not the same model.
Character Filled.

For some reason all I can think of is his JDM Nissan 350Z.  But not the same model.

I'm going to say Nissan 240SX.

Up the ante, he wants to keep it for a while.   Skyline GTR FTW :skid:

Sold the bike eh? That's a shame, it seemed very nice. How did that go wrong?

I'm not sure if "he" crashed it.

I think the front rim exploded, which caused the crash.

Although...I could be mis-remembering.   ;D

Funny...I saw one of the those rare-ish Celica GT-S TRDs Panasonic Editions today...

The front wheel locked up randomly on me on the first day of a trip. Did almost a 360 spin in the air on the bike. Broke my shoulder blade in three places. Rode it about 20 minutes to hospital. Now I have some metal in there. First day of August. Would not recommend.
