Even for a big shot like you they don't even deliver the car with a full tank of fuel.  :P

Car looks great   I have a soft spot for these.

Damn nice ride Patrick.  Commendation on the build & price too...when you choose a colour it actually looks like a real car.  Not sure if I want mine in red or blue...or pearl black looks pretty nice too...or pearl white...or your grey...just a good looking car.

As for ambient lighting...pfft...my 2011 Fusion has that.  Never use it.  If I ever drive it again, maybe I'll have to get my baller-balls out and turn them on.  ;D

One more shot; this show the new light bar in the front grille a bit. It's more noticeable in the dark, obviously. But man, a good silver is underrated. Looks sharp even in boring, flat lighting conditions.

The best thing about the ambient lighting is that there's no need to complain about it because if you don't like it, turn it off.  :)

Personally I liked it in my JCW but that car has a quirky interior to begin with and the lighting just adds to it IMO.

I also think most of these ambient lighting schemes look better in person than in photos.

Very nice 👌,  I can take or leave the ambient, but as said it can be turned off..

It's true on the off option. I personally want as little interior light as possible to maximize outside visibility at night. One of my favorite things about my Pontiac G8 was the switch that a cut all interior lighting off and reduced the odo to very very faint. Saab had the same thing too.

It must have been an Australian thing where travel on pitch black roads is more common. If your night is spent in built up urban areas it would be less useful.

That ambient blue hue was one of my favorite things about my Golf R interior.  It never caused any sort of night blindness at all.
Yeah can't say it bothered me in my Golf R or my current GLI.  You can turn it down or completely off, plus change the color.

never had it, so i can't say i'd use it...but like you said, if you don't like it, you can leave it off...win-win.

We had one of these on test the other week - I took it for a quick spin and was really impressed. I think the 3.6 would have made this car just perfect.

Why stop there. Go all the way to the W8 or the V10 diesel..  ;) In the past in some VWs the larger engines (V6 vs the I4)  have dulled the handling making a nose heavy car even more so.

Well, I went to the 3.6 because the Arteon's predecessor did have the six-cylinder available, so it isn't TOO long a shot.

Yeah but did he ever crap all over the base sound system. If it is anywhere as bad as he says that would be trouble.

They liked it but on top of the sound system, Aisin 8spd auto (as opposed to Europe's DSG) and a lower output engine were mentioned, VS a dual injected one in Europe.

You guys probably remember (or maybe not) that about 2 years ago I said I was working on light pipes and they were going to be used as interior ambient lighting.  This is what I was talking about.

Did one not long ago exclusive to surround the cup holders.

And also one that trimmed and exterior badge.

Working on one this week that trims the headlights.

Light pipes everywhere is the next thing IMO.

Will admit I haven't heard it. We don't even offer that system in Canada, car only comes with H&K which to my ears sounds fine.

Similar story to the Golf 1.4L TSI, which had an Aisin 8-speed in place of the DSGs popular in Europe. Why? Because U.S. customers prefer traditional automatics. I will say that the Aisin in the Arteon is extremely well-calibrated and quick shifts. I've noticed a marked improvement in this 2021 facelift car from my prior 2020 and others I've driven, even though it's the same gearbox.

Interesting.   Although I have had 5 years of ZF 8spd in a Q5 and now 2 years of Aisin 8spd ( in the Volvo)  I would MUCH rather have a VW group DSG than either.  But then I an not an American and have never been in a focus group.

Patrick  just get that AWD ID4 in Canada  to test drive AND lets have Guelph VW as one of the dealers who will be allowed to sell and service it.
