Just to update this thread, we are checking out a local 128 convertible next week that is owned by a business acquaintance.  He wants what I would consider to be top dollar for it, but it's a one owner car with full maintenance history and new tires, so I'm prepared to get a deal done if it's in as good condition as he claims.

I got a coupe, 2012, 141 km. Mine suffered from:

Misfire: Ignition coils and plugs
Oil leak: Valve cover gasket
Oil leak: Oil pan gasket. Not solved yet
Headlight failure: Headlight assembly
Foglight failure: Fog light assembly
Starter noise: Starter? Not solved yet
Fuel leak: Fuel pump leak
Rear noise: Both rear shocks replaced
Front shock leak: Both front shocks replaced
Ground strap
Serpentine belt and tensioner
Blower motor

:)

It's a 2011 with 170,000km.  Asking $16k.

I had a 2008 128i coupe followed by a 2011 328xi, so have plenty of miles and experience with the N52. (+/- 250,000km across the two vehicles)

1FGC, that looks about par for the course!  I have a good import indy to do a PPI and maintenance going forward.

I have no idea if that’s a good price or not, but to me it’s a great choice.  May cost more to maintain, but as long as it isn’t break you kind of money, I’d way rather pump a little extra into that over a regular mustang.  Kind of quirky, but in a really appealing way!

At long last, I'm close to buying something.  Handshake deal pending a PPI tomorrow.  Hopefully I can do a show and shine later this week!

I'll spill the beans a little, it's not a convertible.  This car is for me. Mrs v still wants a convertible but is insanely picky and I'm not holding my breath she will find something she's happy with in her price range.  Anyway, the deal is I can buy this for myself....but she will take it any day I've left it home in favour of the Pilot.  And she can continue her convertible search.  Now that I've thought about it, the purchase isn't actually a resolution to this buying thread  :rofl2:

One step closer today.  PPI was A-OK, closing the deal tomorrow.  I'll post some terrible phone pics as soon as it's home.

So it has to be a toy, but one with a roof, and not at P-Car budgets I would guess.

Since Mrs V will drive it, it has two pedals.

And given the history in this thread, I'd venture towards a bimmer coupe (128, 135 or 3/4 Series depending on $), or a fixed-roof Mustang.

If you said a 2013 with 41k, I'd say you stole my Corolla.   :rofl2:

No, but I would fit right in with the guys in my neighbourhood.  Around 7-8pm, they lift up the garage doors, light up some cigars, and look at their automatic Corvettes.  Funny I never see them being driven!

It’s pouring rain right now, but since I just took possession I’ll post one of the vendor’s photos.  2012 128i, auto, cold weather and premium packages. Deep Sea Blue Metallic on Boston Oyster leather.  Pretty happy with it!
