valuator's 2012 128i
« on: March 22, 2021, 09:48:43 am »
So my wife has decided she'd like to add a summer cruiser to the fleet.  She wants a Mustang convertible with an automatic, under $15k.  Something she will commute in on nice days and evening/weekend family drives.  I haven't seen much pop up locally that interests me lately, everything is either too new and out of our price range, or too beat up.

This popped up, looks like a cream puff, but sold within hours.  They guy said he'd call me if his sale fell through.

Anyway the search continues.  Any thoughts on years or generations to avoid?  Anything to look out for?

2005 and newer is the current platform version...2004 is the last of the Fox Body Mustangs...if any of that matters to you.

AutoTrader is your friend...

This is less than 14k$:

The "high feature" V6 is modern, powerful and pretty good on gas, more refined than the previous truck V6 in older cars. I can't recall on what model years it was offered though.

I think the 3.7 V6 arrived in 2011....so something between 2011 and 2014 is at the top of my list.  A little nervous to buy something so far away, sight unseen, and ship it here though  :-[

these sold reasonably well...one should pop up closer to home if you give it time.

How about a little older GT?  Not sure about the body kit but it's not horrible.

Body kit scared me off, but might be worth a look-see.

Who knows, might still have the old body kit and hood.

Too bad this was sold, would have made for a great cruiser.  https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/bathurst/2007-saab-9-3-aero-electrically-operated-fold-down-roof/m127347

Are you open to something other than a Mustang?

Here's one everyone on this forum will love  https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/dartmouth/2003-lexus-sc-430-convertible-hardtop/1536405394 would be a great cruiser and probably more reliable than a mustang that is twice as new with half the kms.

This dealer has a couple 350Z verts for your price range.  https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/city-of-halifax/2003-nissan-350z-touring-in-silver/m169959

We really need something with a back seat for the kids (ages 4 & 6).  That requirement really limits our options and has drawn us to the Mustang.

Understandable.  There are definitely some verts that have a back seat, but you are right in thinking the Mustang is probably the easiest to find in your price range.

Doesn't the SC430 technically have back seats c/w seatbelts?   ???
