Great picture of the wagon at the cottage.

It's a really good size. Pretty small in relative terms but tons of cargo space if you need it.

Such a good do it all car for the family man.

I think this sums it up perfectly. If you still need more space, nothing a 16CF roof box can't fix. I still miss my Mazda6 Wagon for the same reasons which would have been very similar in size to the C43.

It's such a shame there aren't more wagons in the C300/C43 size and/or class. It's a really good size. Pretty small in relative terms but tons of cargo space if you need it.

That's exactly how I feel about the Golf Wagon. And with a roof box there's no way I'll run out of room.

I assume my E91 is quite a bit smaller than the C wagon but I find it to be the perfect size for my needs.

Agreed.

Gurgie it’s pretty good. I can sit comfortably behind my own seating position. Obviously if you want true family hauler status you’d opt for the E but the C is good and certainly more than good as our secondary family hauler.

It’ll be mostly me, skis, bikes, and golf bags heh

My buddy just got an E450 wagon and he loves it. He's got three young children so the C was too small.

The AMG C43 is cool but that all terrain thing?  ::)

That's not a wagon. Why do the Germans have to make it so fancy and complicated?    This is a wagon. Cubic inches baby.

I'm shocked there isn't a $2,000+ option to have them painted to match.

Yup. What an idiotic marketing exercise, "look dad, I'm a real offroader", nope sit down and shut up. The "offroad" BS should have been an optional package for some idiots to order and the rest of people can have a regular, proper E class wagon.

I guess MB is trying to channel the old Audi Allroad?

They still offer the allroad. In Canada you get get it both in A4 and A6. And yes it's appears they're trying to do the same thing.

Just so funny/sad as the standard E450 and A6 wagons are so elegant it's such a shame. The reviewer was right. They people going out and buying E450s or A6 wagons know what they're buying and want the wagon.

I can't recall the last time I've seen an Allroad - maybe because people aren't buying wagons.

I remember my Dad really liking the Allroad, but that was twenty years ago.

The A6 allroad is new to North America for 2021. I do see a few A4 allroads around.

I see A4 allroads around but not a ton. Never seen a A6 on the road but that's not surprising.

I'm sure my area has a higher density of wagons than typical but I have a several C wagons in my subdivision including a few C43s, and handful of Es as well.

I see a lot of golf wagons.

I've been keeping a steady eye on this... not that I need it, or that it makes any sense for me currently....

As a former driver of a couple wagons (Passat and Volvo V70R) the one thing they needed (especially the Volvo) was ground clearance, particularly in the winter. They were a PITA with kids in car seats but once the spawn could scramble in there on their own it was much better. Sure give as an adjustable suspension but don't try to butch them up.

The problem with the A4 allroad is the Q5 has the same proportions and has better visibility. My wife much preferred the Q5 > A4 allroad.

Does the Allroad have a bigger load floor though?  I much prefer it to the Q5.

They are close but I believe you are correct.  For a couple of empty nesters both suffice.

I think my numbers are right or close enough.

(LxW in mm)

Q5 = 926 x 1050
A4 Allroad = 1050 x 1000
A5 SB = 1068 x 1000

Only numbers I found for the C43 was 1047 x 950 but not positive if that is the latest model or not.

I think the big question is whether you really need the ground clearance or not?

Living in Alberta/BC and frequent trips to the mountains?  Then sure, probably.

Living in SW Ontario?  Very rare to have a day where an AWD sedan/wagon couldn't get just about anywhere.

Isn't that right in the middle of their 'terrible build quality' phase?

This. The best thing about a wagon is the handling characteristics of a car. Once you start jacking it up, just get an SUV instead. I've only ever gotten stuck once in ON.

I'm partly surprised, but more so not surprised, to see the sales results for this utterly brilliant car. Happened to be looking at some industry registration data last week, and Mercedes-Benz Canada has registered 377 of these beauties since 2019. Pretty respectable, I think, but indicative of most consumers' demand for wagons... it should be way more popular.

Not surprising. Wagons in Canada: They will sell dozens!
