Isn't the Tiguan in line with all the other CUV where none of them are fast. It isn't like you would be holding up traffic, unable to pass, or merge into traffic. Fack, with my 169hp Rolla I have no issues getting up to speed, merging, running at 140 when I need to.
Would it be nice if VW made a proper R version, sure, but I don't think enough people really care. Besides, I doubt even one person here would buy it because VW.
Yup. They're all in the 180-200hp range. The Rav4 is at the high end, with its 200hp 2.5NA engine. Mazda is also an outlier, with their optional 2.5T. BUT, Mazda is unique in that they don't have a 'luxury' brand to support. The CX-5 Signature with the 2.5T is intended to compete more with the Audi Q5, and their 2.5NA like mine is the volume seller that competes with the Tiguan, CR-V, etc.
Notice, ALL the manufacturers put their small engines in their mainstream compact CUV's (the 1.5T in the CR-V, the detuned 2.0T in the Tiguan, 4-cylinder in the Rav4), and they reserve the big engines for their more luxurious counterparts (2.0T in the RDX, high output 2.0T in the Q5, V6 in the RX350).
They ALL do it. The Tiguan is definitely not unique in that regard. So, you want a more powerful Tiguan? Get a Q5. Problem solved.
