Little more progress, slowly but surely becoming a nice car again.....

Gave it it's first wash since I've owned it and swapped the new wheels on, amazing how nice clean wheels transform a car. Scrubbed the wheel wells with a brush and some degreaser, and then replaced more bulbs to get the fog lights and the underhood lights working....Now at that point where every feature/button/etc is working correctly.

Paint looks pretty good considering I haven't even attempted to polish it out yet, it should come up really nice once I get at it with the buffer. I tend to do that last though; next up will be to get mufflers back on it, engine bay cleanup and then scrub the carpet/seats.

I also got Firm Jr's C4 Powerwheels up and running, though I haven't shown it to him yet. I want to reveal it to him side-by-side with the life-size one....Impressed that with a fresh battery it's operating perfectly. Thing hasn't seen battery power for roughly 25 years....

One last little story to go with this update. The car came with a carcover, but it was garbage, so I had been looking around for a good outdoor cover for it. Found one (a nice high-end outdoor unit) on kijiji, brand new, for a really good price. It was close to me in Mississauga so I picked it up last week. The seller had a triple black C4, original owner and probably the nicest example I've seen, and a Mondial. Got talking to him and learned that he was a guitarist and song writer for a couple bands with a few huge hits (I am sure just about anyone here would recognize them) to his name from the 80's and 90's. Really nice guy, we're planning a cruise together for the summer. Anyway, today I am in the garage unboxing the car cover and getting ready to put it on the car....The radio in the garage at my grandma's is probably 40 years old and only gets a couple stations, so it's playing whatever random Toronto station tuned in, and one of this guys hits starts playing.....total coincidence but kinda freaky.

*Note hood is not latched in the photos (I was being lazy....shoulda latched it) and the suspension isn't settled from lifting it for the wheel swap.

Nice fleet!

Thanks guys, I am really happy with the way it's coming along. Nice to work on something I've never worked on (much) before either

Looks fantastic!

Indeed.

What band?

Trying to respect the guy's privacy, but one of the bands he was in, in the 90's, was named after a tart berry.

The Cranberries?

Doubting their guitarist lives in the GTA but who knows.

Maybe the core group?? Iunno...I think this guy's role with them was mostly while they were touring or something. He does show up on their Wikipedia. To be fair though, he had some bigger (IMO) one-hit wonder types in the 80's that surprised me even more.

Yeah, not part of the original group. Found him on Wikipedia too. Cool stuff.

Yup - Billboard #1 (guitarist) and #2 (guitarist and songwriter) hits; super cheesy power ballads.

Well, getting this muffler delete thing sorted out took a lot more effort than I thought it would, but it's done. Basically, I cut off the 'delete pipes' the previous clown put on it and then had to scourer around to find the right reducer sleeves to install the old-school 90's Borla SS units I found on kijiji. Eventually got it all sorted out and mounted up. Not only do I like the big quad tips way better, but it sounds so much better. Still loud, you still know it's an SBC from a block away....but it's not ground pounding Harley Davidson loud.

I have a couple before and after videos...not great cuz the sound quality on my phone is mediocre, but you get the idea....
