Congrats on the C4! Still one of my favorite generation of the Corvette and one of my all time favorite cars period. I think it's because as a young boy they were one of my dream cars. My 93 was black on red, I had a similar issue with the carpets (wear and discoloration). I bought a compete new rug from Ecklers for around $400. Well worth the $$. I tried dyes but they never looked right. Ugliest job I did on that car was fresh weatherstripping....not a nice job.

One thing I love about C4's is how great they look with a set of modern Vette wheels. I had C5 wheels (17" front and 18" rear) that completely transformed the car.

Thanks. I am actually going to try some dye on the carpet, I've never done it before so it'll be a fun learning experience. Duplicolor has an aerosol dye that came well recommended, so I am going to try that first. There's also RIT, which some people have mixed up in a spray bottle to dye carpet in the car, might be worth a shot if the aerosol doesn't work out....Given that C4 values are still very low (though climbing now) I don't want to be tossing $ at it if I can avoid it.

I do need to attend to some of the weather stripping, it looks pretty good around the targa top thankfully, but the outer window sweeps are trash as is the weather striping on the doors. It's available cheap on rockauto, and looks pretty annoying to replace (door panel needs to come off) but I'll deal with it.

I was never a fan of most C4 wheels, these early 'turbines' especially, but again, recently my tastes have kinda shifted and I find myself really liking these. I do LOVE the original C5 wagon wheels, and if I was going to change it up, that's what I'd do. However, the pre-88 C4's had a different offset, so to run post 88 Vette wheels on an early C4 you do need spacers, which is kind of a bummer.

Is this the product you are thinking of using ?  https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/dupli-color-high-performance-vinyl-and-fabric-paint-0473603p.html#srp

I used this on a factory miata windblocker that was tan in colour. I wanted it to match my black interior so sprayed it black to match with the above product.
This particular windblocker had a fabric mesh as part of it's construction. It dyed it black perfectly. Also is supposed to work on carpet and upholstery.

That's the stuff. heading to CT later today to grab a couple cans. If it works well on the Vette I might try it on the red seat belts in the T/A which are also a bit faded.

Small update. I secured a pair of nice stainless steel performance mufflers, used off another C4, from kijiji for very little $. I'll polish them up and install them in the spring to take care of that obnoxious noise.

As for gaming, my earliest automotive gaming experience was 'death race' on PC...pretty epic, and it had a 3rd gen Camaro! I didn't really get into gaming until the late 90's though with NFS Hot Pursuit, it had the new C5 and I was smitten. To this day, a base C5 coupe in Artic White or Black on the silver painted wagon wheels remains one of my favorite Corvettes...and I'd have that over any C4. Though a late C4 in Polo green on tan with a 6-speed would be a close runner up. I lose interest in Corvette's almost entirely after the C5...

To reminisce a little more on Corvette stuff - and in particular red C4's. One of my earliest really vivid childhood memories from around 3-4 years old was going to Toys R Us with my parents to pick out a PowerWheels car (I was getting it for Christmas or a Birthday). They had 4 cars lined up; two Jeeps (red and pink), a grey off-road truck/Jeep, a dune buggy and a red C4 Corvette. I remember getting into each of them and play around to make my decision, and ultimately deciding on the C4 which became my most prized possession for years to come.

In fact, I still have it, it's got a little patina, but now that Firm Jr. is getting close to an age where he can use it, I am very excited to dig it out, upgrade it to a 12V system (a popular thing with these older Powerwheels) and let him enjoy ripping around in it. The photo op here with him and the Powerwheels and me with the full-sized example was too sweet to pass up, so it was definitely a factor in my decision to purchase this particular car.

This is the powerwheels from a few years ago when I moved it from my parents to my place.

That's amazing to have now bought essentially the same car as your original Power Wheels.  They must've made them tougher back then.  I bought my son the PW Mustang when he was three (holy crap.. that was 8 years ago!), and he shredded the plastic rear tires doin' so many burnouts.

I'm starting to develop a greater appreciation for Corvettes lately -- I think especially as raw, normally-aspirated V8-powered sports cars are becoming as rare as pterodactyl rides.  I've always liked the looks of the C4s over the blobby-looking C5s.  I really wouldn't mind a decent C6.

I agree, the C6 is really nice.

What a great story.  I wish I still had the pedal cars from when I was a kid.

Same, my grandparents had a General Lee pedal car that all the grand kids used, I probably put hundreds of kms on that thing over the years pedaling all the trails along Etobicoke creek.

I LOVE the PW 'Vette; can't wait to see the pics with you in the big one and Firm Jr. in the PW!

My sister and I had a VW Bug pedal car like the one below.

I really wouldn't mind a decent C6.

 :iagree:

Something like this seems like a good value

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/kelowna/2008-corvette-mint-condition-low-kms/1553400646?undefined

My only problem with the C5 and the C6 is that the Z06 version of both is just so much more desirable for me. It would be hard to settle for a standard one.

Love these: https://www.autotrader.ca/a/chevrolet/corvette/ottawa/ontario/5_49904065_20120404123351063

I really like late C4 convertibles...and I have no idea why.

And if I was going C5 and it wasn't a Z06?  I'd go with a FRC. If I couldn't go FRC, I'd go regular C5 in Fairway Green.

They built only 6000 FRCs and I'm not sure I've ever seen one in the flesh.

Nobody wants "underpowered" '01s when the '02s were 405 hp?   ;) ;D

That does look like a nice example and good deal.  I just can't get past the look of those things.  Not only are the C5s the ugliest generation (IMHO), but with the lack of hatchback glass, it looks even more awkward.  And that's to say nothing of that embarrassing interior.

So are you going to bring that thing to the track this season?

We should have a Autos.ca track evening sometime.

This thing would need tires in a big way before I'd trust it on a track at all....so if I get that far along with it this summer, sure why not.

Autos.ca track evening would be awesome!
