Yeah, outright performance numbers mean less and less to me all the time. Unless someone is paying me to be the fastest around a track, I'd much rather have a slower car that engages me more and that I find more enjoyable to drive. Increasingly modern cars are becoming sterile, so anytime there's something with a little bit of extra 'fizz', I seem to gravitate toward it. EVs can be blazingly fast in a straight line, of course, and I'm beginning to think I'd love to have one as a daily driver, but they're no replacement for something more raw.
I have grown to appreciate the IS more in recent months, due largely, I think, to the fact that it's a bit dated. I dig its compact interior, and I think that V8 will be a really sweet spot for it.
Plus, for the cost of a moderately-optioned 340i or C43, it seems like a nice buy.
