So I know we are all waiting for the pricing to be announced for the IS500.  I see all these articles coming from the states that say the price should be low $60's there, which sounds really low, but then I look at how much the RCF is there and it starts at $65K.  Compare that to the Canadian pricing for the RCF and it's $85K.  Did the conversion and that $65K RCF in the US is only $80K CAD.  So now I'm wondering if this is a case that the US gets a better price, or maybe they have a lower trim level that we don't get here in Canada.

Currencies fluctuate fast.   Just 1 year ago, the rate was 1.35 CAD to USD.   So that $65K USD would have been over $85K CAD.   That said, it shouldn't shock us if pricing is generally better in the US to reflect the superior scale of that market to carmakers.

I'd expect the IS500 will slightly undercut that RCF price but not by a whole lot.   Maybe just squeak under $80K MSRP?

I am more hopeful!!

They've been saying it will be cost competitive to a 3/4 Series BMW with M-Sport package....which would be around $65k CDN.
If it can be competitive with the BMW M340 and the Merc C Class AMG light then top of the price range should be $75k.  But I’m hoping for closer to $70k.

$65-$70K....fingers crossed!!

This would be perfect as my 50th birthday car!

My IS-F was really, really, good.

IS500 would be better for me.
I'm turning 50 a day or two before you. Can you buy me one too?

If I win the lotto from now until then, I will!!
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Well the LC500 would have a comfier suspension I bet.

Well I want an LC500....but even used they're still $85k!!!   :o

(Or did you mean IS500)??
Well as you are hopeful in the IS500 MSRP, I am hopeful that the used prices are inflated right now and you’ll be able to get a nice LC500 for under $75k.

How is it that we are two weeks away from it officially being fall and the new Lexus IS500 hitting dealers this quarter, but still no price announcement?

Is this just a Toyota things where they hold back details until the very last minute?  I much prefer when Ford unveiled the Maverick and had full specs and pricing right when it was unveiled.

This to me is the ultimate sport sedan...minus the lack of a manual but we can't expect perfection. Got a sweet, NA V8, RWD, LSD, looks great, I mean, this is where its at. I couldn't imagine looking in this class and choosing something with a....a...  :hurl: 4 cylinder or, shudder, V6, when this thing comes with a proper, big boy V8.
Lighten up Francis.....

Nice.  $10K more than the TLX Type S and right on top of the M340 and C43.

That's a chunk of change and a solid deal at the same time.  I hope that, unlike the GS-F, they sell more than 5 of them so I have some distant hope of a future used purchase.

I want to LOVE this thing, but I'm only feeling lukewarm from these reviews.

The engine will be sublime of course.   And maybe that's enough.   But the rest of it just sounds very "luxury car" [and an 8 year old one at that] vs "sport sedan".   Nothing wrong with that perhaps, but if folks are expecting an M3-esque ride, this may not be it.   More of a shrunken GS.

Still...kudos to Lexus for building it all and offering a NA V8 at a (relatively) affordable price point.   Nice to have actual engine noise rather than artificial speaker BS.

It was never going to be M3-esque. They said so from the get go...was never supposed to be a full on "F" car.

I agree on both counts. The WRX is fugly as hell, and the Lexus is a wallowing luxury car that should be a bit lighter with stiffer suspension.

Albeit, Vman, your opinion means nothing unless you come on here and post it yourself!  :P ;D

True, but even if compared with the likes of an M340 or C43....this reads like something a fair bit softer and with a less-than-stellar transmission, albeit with the best engine of the bunch.
The V8 alone might be enough to sway me, I'd just have been really jazzed if they had gone closer to full "F" treatment.

As is, I'd be saving pennies and donating body parts to get into an M3 or blackwing.

The full F was supposed to have the same engine..but twin turbo. And of course full on F suspension.

I've heard that the TT engine is on hold now though.

Basically, this was to be an IS350 with a V8 option...which I think is perfect for a DD.

I also think, with no other changes, the LS would be better with this engine too.

I think $73k is pretty decent value.  The problem I have is if the BMW 340M and Merc C43 are much sportier feeling and handling.  I'm okay with it being a little slower, but I want it to at least match those in handling and how it drives.  If this is just an IS350 with a V8 and no other upgrades it's a bit too much MEH for me.

Makes the Caddy Blackwings look so much more appealing.
