So late last year my old Chev truck collapsed at the landscapers when I had them drop gravel in the bed. Truck bent right in half! This was a shared family work truck, not a daily driver, so no urgency in replacing it. With no one in the family needing a truck for a while thanks to winter being here, I haven't been looking for another truck.
My father's neighbour passed away early in the new year. He was quite elderly and him and Dad were good friends. He'd been spending winters in the southern US to escape our winters and drive down and back each year in his pick up. He liked the drive, trying to take slightly different routes each time. Over the years he's seen quite a bit of the US thanks to that.
The other day his son came to visit my Dad and handed him the keys to his father's pick up. A ten year old Silverado 2500HD, but in fantastic shape thanks to winters away from snow. He knew his father and my Dad were close friends and since the estate was pretty sizeable, the family agreed they could easily give the truck away to my Dad.
So, we have a "new" family work-truck. It sure is nice, waaaaaay nicer than any replacement I would have bought.
