A bunch of work later, I actually drove the darn thing! The car is so seriously raw to drive, it's vastly different from anything I own and have driven extensively. It's decently comfortable, but very loud, smelly and also just plain awesome.
Very cool. They certainly have a few quirks to get used to, like pedals on the floor, those heater controls
(Should I mention the shifter?)
BTW, keep an eye on the clutch cable linkage adjustment, it needs to have some clearance and as it wears it gets tighter. If it gets too tight your clutch starts slipping and you might need a new clutch by the time you figure it out. (BTDT)
Same goes for front brake pads, at some point before they appear worn out, they will contact a spring plate and get held apart at the top, then all sorts of fun happens.
