Not sure why you'd need to crack the bleeder, does not the fluid just go back into the master cylinder? The only issue I could see is (maybe) overflowing the cylinder itself, or theoretically forcing water that's settled in the low point of the caliper back up in the system

That being said, I've never had a caliper with a spiral piston yet, so maybe my stuff has just been too old. Has any engineer come up with the bright idea to make one side reverse thread?  :D

Yeah, just take the top off the master cylinder and stuff a ball of clean paper towel into it to sop up the overflow.

The argument of cracking the bleeder is to avoid pushing dirty fluid from the caliper back into the system.  Its does seem to be the dirtiest in my experience.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Ok, that's is part of it.  The brake fluid in the caliper reservoir (must be a name for it) gets super heated and turns black.  You don't want that stuff getting pushed back into the lines.

The main point of cracking the bleeder is to reduce the line pressure to ZERO.  Consequently, when the bleeder is cracked one can push the caliper pistons back in with one's thumbs.  No need for high tension special tools or clamps.  It takes wicked pressure to force all that brake fluid backwards into the main reservoir.

If you can't crack a bleeder or too nervous to do so, you should be doing a brake job.  :)

Fit the bikes in just fine!

Those tires really fill the wheel wells, eh?  You need a 2" lift now to counteract them, lol.

Any rubbing, that you've noticed?

No lift, need to get the bikes in and out easily, plus I love the look as is.  There was a tiny bit of rubbing at full lock on the plastic flap at the front of the front wheel, so I removed it.

That little plastic flap was integral to the excellent fuel economy that the Tundra gets.  :censor:'s really gonna hit the fan now that you've removed it  ;D ;)
