Lucky bastards - it's business as usual for me - normal gassing up every two weeks.

Or maybe I'm the lucky one, because I actually get to leave the house and go driving every day  :P

yea, and honestly, it's likely not the best for the car to be sitting so much.  :(

I did about 10 x 60km journeys, so not too bad, and not many short trips.

That's why we still have insurance on the truck, and I take it for a drive every weekend.

Finally filled it up!

About $125 I think. Not bad for 25 days of driving.  :rofl2:

I used to spend ~$280 a month on fuel commuting, so that's not too bad in comparison.

So this means the truck is twice as efficient as the GTI.  :P

that's good...i just barely drive my car now...that's not great for it...i'll have to take it out a bit more, although most of my trips are short distances, which also isn't that good.

looks like i need an EV.  ;D

Something like a used Volt would be perfect for me right now.  I could do my local errands on battery only.

Two questions.

I have a 5'x8' trailer I need to get rid of, anyone know what I should sell it for? And seeing as it has a plate, how complicated a process is it?

It's one of these: https://www.rona.ca/en/carry-on-utility-trailer-black-5-x-8-5x8g-30737401

Also the truck came with a really nice trifold tonneau, I'm assuming I have to remove it entirely to put the bikes on?

R.E. the trailer, given the current state of recreational stock due to COVID, I'd check if your local RONA has any new trailers in stock.  If not, you may be able to get back what you paid for it, lol.  Gotta be some fool out there who bought some dirtbikes over the winter and now needs a trailer.

Yes, the tonneau has to come off.  It should be fairly easy, a couple of twist knobs, no tools required.  I take mine off all the time when I need to haul large objects, although it's a little easier because the soft tonneaus weigh less than the hard ones.

As for price?  Is it low end or high end?  Forgetting that part; the plate stays with you. keep it, it's lifetime.  You can virtually put it on anything in the future.  Of course keep the plate portion of the ownership.  As for the trailer; get bill of sale.  Price is essentially irrelevant to you.  Just make sure you have the date and time of day on the document plus the owners ID.  The trailer is still a rolling liability.  They have serial numbers etched into them.  Protect your assets; if the new owner doesn't bother to register it to avoid HST and the trailer hurts someone while hurtling down the raodway, and is left at the scene unattended, you need proof that you sold it.  Otherwise the liability is on you.

If it's a hard trifold it should fold up into three sections up against the rear window and usually held in place by rods.  Hard trifolds are not easy to remove and re-install.

and one more thing relating to the Bill of Sale.  The documents needs a place of signing.  Not necessarily an address, but a municipality and a Province.  "Signed by so an so of the Municipality of so and so, Province of Ontario, in the Municipality of so an so.  Otherwise, worthless.

OK, so the tonneau looks like this propped up:

I dunno, that looks like it would catch a ton of air at highway speeds, might just remove it. Thoughts?

Took it off. The front clamps are plastic and would shear at high speed IMHO. Good news is it took 30 seconds to remove, so easy to put back on.

yea, no way that would have held up to wind force while driving...it would have broken it...since it was so easy to remove, that's likely what you were supposed to do with it.

Am I the only one disappointed he didn't try to see how fast he could go before it came off?

I had a canopy come off my pickup once on the highway, nothing you want to see tumbling through the air in your rear view mirror.

Luckily it went into the ditch and didn't hit a car, or God forbid a motorcycle
