We hate working on X-Types and S-Types because they are all falling apart now, and from a mechanic's perspective they were very difficult to work on, even new. Had an X-Type that killed its 4th differential in 100k recently, and an S-Type we just had to give up on with massive transmission issues and a missfire that nearly shook the engine out of the car we could not nail down without tearing half the engine bay apart (customer did not want to pay). They were just sloppy cars with poor Ford parts. A low point for Jaguar, IMO.
The Contour SVT is a nice gem though, saw one in mint condition at Radwood, sounded good too.
