Mustang Mach-E

Haven't heard much on this forum about the Mach-E, what are everyone's thoughts? Vs. stuff like the ID4?

https://www.ford.ca/suvs/mach-e/2021/

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

Looks interesting. I've notice that they're popping up on autotrader at some dealerships. Certainly on my list to drive.
I love it when a plan comes together.

Yes they are popping up on Autotrader but dealers have none in stock. Got one Montreal dealers with his pants down on this yesterday. He took pictures of a Mach-E touring from dealers to dealers earlier this fall in his showroom and put an ad as if he actually had stock.

First deliveries to Canadian customers scheduled later this month.

I have a deposit on one Premium AWD with the long range battery as a back up plan for the Polestar. I have a VIN, 183XX with production in Feb and delivery in March. Reviews are still embargoed but should start popping up on the net within 2 weeks.

But now it seem I should get the Polestar this month...

Driving reviews are embargoed for another two weeks.
But walk arounds are starting to appear.

Really compelling car, impressed that Ford went all out on the design, flat battery, low center of gravity, massive responsive touch screen, high resolution driver binnacle, great performance, nice interior materials, flush door handles.   Should be a slam dunk winner in the segment.

But you have a Kia Sorento, so reliability is obviously not a concern.... :stick:

Meh, I would kind of/sort of trust a Kia to hit 100k kms....maybe, at least they are cheap.
Lighten up Francis.....

5 years in on the Kia and only issue repaired under warranty was a front sway bar link... one the other hand when I used to by Fords in the past I would have had a tranny go by now, A/C repairs etc. etc.

Well, EV's don't have traditional transmission, and far fewer moving parts, but re: AC repairs, our Tesla had a cabin heater core replaced 4 years ago under warranty, fine since, but the AC in EV's is transitioning to heat pumps and integrated systems ala "octo valve" design Tesla is using in the refreshed Model 3 and new Model Y which reduce the number of parts and systems used in maintaining battery/cabin conditioning to a handful with one electric motor (the "pump" in heat pump) for circulation of coolant, and one for the cabin fan.   Electric motors are pretty reliable.  More reliable than the heater core design used in earlier EV's like my 2013 Tesla S and 2017 Smart.

The point is well made, if Ford focuses on quality (job one right?!), then the Mach-e will be a home run, it's priced well for the capability and market segment, and marketed as a Mustang, so a more premium sub-brand in the Ford stable.

Oddly enough, those Mexican assembled 2006-2012 Ford Fusions are very reliable mechanically.  If they see salt then they must be Krowned or they will rot.  But avoiding that issue, amazing.

Nice. Wonder what the Ford will be like. I'm currently still eyeing the Model 3 SR+, which qualifies for the $5,000 gov subsidy.

such stupid naming, such great Ford names from the past that they can use that are futuristic sounding...Galaxy would be a great choice IMO. Comet?
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Huh, I didn't see it coming. But I can tell a 250km run to the "dealer" is not exactly reasonable.

Now what about that avatar of yours?  ;)

I keep it.  ;) The Polestar order is on "pause". Polestar says they will come pick up and deliver back the car if it needs repairs, dropping a loaner at the same time, but that seems very inefficient, especially for small, quick fix like a software upgrade..

I have my company car until April; why rush and put a nice new car on the road in road salt and grime in winter. Also, with the pandemic, my wife retired and me working from home, we put about 600km/month total, if that much, on both cars parked in the driveway. Very difficult to justify a $80K+ with taxes car under those circumstances.

I just gave myself 3-4 months to see what happens.
