The Civic Si is being revealed tomorrow.  How much you want to bet it's the same 1.5T as the last one with less than a 10hp increase.

You shut your steamy pie hole!

(nah, you are probably correct)

Would that be a bad thing though?

First of all that 1.5T was never very good really.  As much as we give VW :censor: for not giving the GTI power gains every generation they have still added double what Honda has done with the Civic Si.  With how Honda has priced this Civic it'll be quite disappointing to see that same powertrain put in a vehicle that will likely be priced more than a VW GTI/GLI.  You can't even say that you'd buy the Civic over the GTI because it's more reliable because it hasn't been the last 5+ years.

2022 GTI is advertised as having 240 HP but has a 0-60 of 6.4s? Only 0.1s faster than the outgoing Civic SI.

I don't know we're you got your numbers but the GTI is 5.4 and not 6.4

Car and Driver has it at 5.1 seconds for the new GTI.  Street start of 5.5 seconds.
Why would VW advertise it with a 6.4s time? Right on their website.

Everyone else: Let's increase horsepower
Subaru: Let's increase the displacement of the WRX by 0.4 litres but only increase horsepower by 3!!!
Honda: How about we keep the same displacement but reduce it by 5 horsepower

They just needed to put the 252 hp 2.0T from the Accord in it.  But nooooooo.....

Type R is probably gonna stick with the same engine and specs (which isn't a bad thing). But with 265 width tires stock, that thing is gonna hook up, at least in the dry.

As expected, Honda makes a less appealing Civic Si.  Have they ever lost their way.  I'm sure the Civic Type R will be great, but it'll look just as bad, and who knows if they actually improve the performance enough to beat the previous one.

As others have said, for awhile, they should have put that 2.0T engine in it even if they detuned it down to something lower, like 240hp, it still would be easier to justify the extra cost over the regular Civic.

Agreed, its more like detail changes that all look good, but I'm not sure how much those will sway new buyers. I don't think this brings much to the table for the money. And its a 1.5T sedan version only, with no automatic option, so I can't see the take rate being that great.

The next hope is for that 2.0T with both a manual and 10 speed 'normal' auto to be what some version of the Integra uses, thereby differentiating it from Honda Civics. Which is exactly why its not likely.
