It reminds me of the very bland 1996-99 Civic that followed the pretty sharp '92-'95.

The 2022 Honda Civic just earned the IIHS' highest crash-testing accolade

It is pretty safe too, safe and conservative, umm, they are the Buick of the UK. Maybe they want to be here to in Canada. On the plus size, bland cars age well. I can't help feeling this is the last ever petrol civic

Let’s see how it handles against the best seller vehicle in Canada?

That's a very good review. From what they said....and didn't. There are a LOT of admirable points, especially the luxury feel and interior (seats et al).

However the price and really dull off the line acceleration would turn me off, to the point of "no thanks". Honda should at least try to create a multi gear real transmission. CTV is not only a turn off for enthusiasts, its a sales problem.

Isn't the Civic the top selling car in Canada?

Yes. Despite losing that segment of the car buying public, however small, that won't even enter a Honda showroom because of CVT. And that segment is the most likely to buy the top of the line model too = higher gross margins.

Honda isn't bothered. They made their (CVT) decision and they are sticking to it! :-[

Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Subaru ... all of them .. all!! ... have CVT's nowadays. Mazda and VW are the only ones to offer compacts with real automatics, yet the buying public is gobbling them up, as so-so Mazda and VW sales demonstrate.

Even for us car guys the end is inevitable...

How do you know that, when all that is available is CVT. I would love to have a choice, CVT or Slushomatic. But there isn't. So they forcing public, is more like. Lol. Sorry I know I'm being pedantic.  :P

Everyone knows the future will be electric, so no CVT or regular automatic, or manual for that matter.

I have a stick this week. It's like discovering orange juice after months of only drinking lukewarm tap water.

I see a bunch at the local dealer but haven't noticed one on the road.  Not exactly a car that jumps out and says look at me, it blends in a lot more than previous models in my eyes.

Well, it has all the eye-catching road presence of a '90s Corolla.  "Jumping out" is not really on the agenda.  Paint it bright Smurf blue or yellow and..... it still blends.

I really liked the old one in black hatch configuration - probably the best-looking build of the previous generation.

2022 Honda Civic Sport Touring Manual video

Well...at least it's not ugly.  :P ::)

Oh wait...

Yes, yes it is ugly.

From someone not in the market - I would hope the Si manual will be available on the sedan, which is not ugly.

That top picture is for the Chinese market and doesn't share anything with the one that NA gets.
