Are you saying a heated steering wheel would make the Tundra newsworthy?

You realize they're less than a year away from unveiling a complete redesign, right?  2021 will most likely be the last year of the current generation, and possibly the last year you can get a V8 in a Tundra.

Also, they keep dropping the price.  You can get MY truck, the SR5 TRD Off-Road, but with more goodies (Android Auto/Apple Carplay, push button start/smart key) for $3k less than the MSRP of my truck in 2018.

No, but it would make it the perfect truck IMO  ;D

If a heated steering wheel is what you think it takes to make a perfect truck, well, I've completely misjudged you.  You, sir, belong in a Hyundai!  ;)

In all seriousness, my wife has been complaining about the manual passenger seat on the Tundra.  She wishes it was power like the driver's seat.  I used to opportunity to tell her we could trade the truck for a Tundra Platinum, and then she'd get a power passenger seat (and a cooled one, too).

A Hyundai..... :hurl: :hurl:

I just find it funny that their top line truck doesn't have that. After trying it out in a few vehicles, I promised myself a heated steering wheel and cooled seats in my next vehicle.

Meh, Toyota's heated steering wheel is MEH anyway.  I tried it out in a loaner Rav4 I had once, and it only heated the 9 and 3 'o' clock positions, rather than the entire wheel.   I think that's the case across Toyota's lineup.  I felt it was something I could do without.

Some of the features the Platinum has, though, like the 10-way driver's seat with memory, and the power tilt/telescope steering wheel (also with memory), the auto dual-zone climate control, the cooled seats, etc.  I could see myself wanting those.  I wonder if I could straight trade my low mileage Tundra SR5 for a same year higher mileage Tundra Platinum? (or a 2019 so it has smartkey and Android Auto) Probably not, eh?  Not sure I want to do that, either.  I know exactly how my truck has been treated.

Aren't you the one always railing on about added complexity in vehicles?  :P

It is mighty fine stuff in the RX. Four way lumbar is nice indeed, and the memory function for the seat/tilt/telescope does the side mirrors as well, super useful if you switch drivers often.

And cooling for leather seats makes such a difference I'd guess it will be about as standard as heating pretty soon

That being said, it's not this:

The actual best part of the GLE 450's seats is Seat Kinetics. What's that? It's this excellent little feature that ever so slightly moves your seat every few minutes. A degree of recline, a squeeze of the bolsters, a tiny slide forward, then back—you stop noticing it's even happening after a bit, especially when combined with massage. The effect, however, is that your body is physically moved every couple of miles, and the result is wonderful. You just don't feel as cramped, tight, achy, stiff, and beaten as you normally do when you emerge from a several-hundred-mile drive. I cannot recommend Seat Kinetics highly enough.

That being said, might be coming to other makes soon:

The company (Comfort Motion Global) says the technology can be programmed into any OEM’s memory seat and can actuate any other system in the seat such as lumbar support, bolsters, heating and cooling and existing massage functions. It also says the system is customizable by each automaker, and it currently is working with 14 other OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers on the technology

It would be cool if there was a module you could install between the vehicle harness and the seat harness that would allow you to add memory / comfort motion to existing power seats.
