One more thing - the LS600hL linked in the Calgary listing - would you honestly pay $50K+++ for an EIGHT YEAR OLD CAR??

Absolutely I would, just not for that particular car.

I think I know what you're saying. And I think we can agree on that.

I'm looking for something comfortable, reliable, with massage seats. I don't really want to deviate from that as a requirement.

What's a poor sales guy to do who's going to be stuck on the road for hours at a time?

To answer one of your earlier concerns, you can certainly get your Lexus services at the local Toyota dealer or even a good Indy garage.  Getting parts won't be any harder than the Audi.

The reason we'd all pay more money for the Lexus is because it's a superior product.  You can get them with message seats and I'm sure you would be thoroughly impressed with one.

Don't lump me in with all of you, I'd gladly take the Audi over the Lexus.

Maybe you should ramp it up instead of down. Go big or go home? How about a lighted used Bentley?  :rofl2:

I think he means front massage...which the Lexus doesn't have.

Lexus. Blah blah blah blah blah.

Dude get the Audi don’t be a boring scared :censor: cat likes these other guys.

The Lexus is the superior vehicle for slogging miles.

Now if you want a car with more athleticism in corners...the Audi is the better choice.

My usual statement is if you have to ask you can’t afford it.

But, it’s not like this is some ten year old RS6. A 2017 with 30,000km?

Should be just fine.

Now if you’re planning on keeping it beyond 5 years I’d think about it....

Reliability is but one metric. One needs to weigh that with what they want.

I know. This is usually my modus operandi too. But I am like right on the cusp here...I’d be comfortable so long as I’m not dropping $5-10K a year in additional maintenance expenses.

And it’s a land barge, not a toy I’m taking out full rip looking to sew some oats with. It’s going to get treated well.

5 years would be a minimum commitment. Hell, the payments are going to be that long.  :o

I like Lexus. I think it’s a great car...haven’t tried an LS but I’m sure it won’t disappoint. But buying one seriously diminishes my buying power...Audi is kind of an in-between, right in the middle of MB (high losses in resale) versus Lexus. Beamers are somewhere in the middle ground too. I’d feel more comfortable owning this A8 than either say a 750I or a S550.

But to get into the LS I’m down into a six, seven year old car with way more miles on it. CPO doesn’t really matter, unless a local Toyota guy can service the warranty.

How many KMs a year will you be logging?

That’s something to consider.

And yeah I’m referring to front massage seats. It’s not much usually but it’s a huge help. I’d tried them in Lincoln Nautilus and they were a huge creature comfort.

Lightly used MKZ and a used sports car or motorcycle.

Lincoln Continental!!  That would be a pretty sweet highway cruiser!  Plus it has front massaging seats, AWD, and plenty of HP.

Could likely get a minty one for $40k...still under warranty.

This. Get the Audi.

Unless the Lexus is a few cents cheaper. Then get that instead.  :P

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

About 25-30,000

Thats above average. If you did less KM then the A8 would be better.

How about a Toyota Avalon? You can get a brand new one for the same money.

I think front massaging seats are a must for him...which is why I recommended the Continental.

Been following this thread for a few days. Fairly silly to ask a bunch of strangers on what you should buy, unless there's a couple guys on here that are close friends? Like WTF do we know about you, your financial situation, family situation, etc, etc...? Maybe if you posted that you have a wife & 4 kids, we'd say... bad choice... but this random new thread really gives us little to go by.
