Let's not beat on Ford too much here.  The Ford V8 is a good motor with both PF and DI injection.  No insane cylinder DEACTIVATION.  GM's are now even more complex than the crap before it.  2020 Hemi MDS driving owners nuts with vehicle vibration at certain rpms.  Hard to take that if you suffer from engine and vehicle vibration OCD.

Good to see KAZ's bout of new vehicle fever is waning. Hold off until the new Tundra shows up and then blow the balance sheet up on one of those.
The V8 is an oil hog...Tons of oil consumption issues out there, it is the least selling gas engine in the line up nowadays, so clearly pick up owners don’t give a crap

Or enough Ford fanboys are willing to gamble on a obviously unreliable EB by leasing.

IIRC they have 0% lease financing right now too...hmmm...I'd try a new EB - maybe they fixed the phaser issues...

  :rofl2:  :rofl2:  :rofl2:

Oh well, at least it's both DI & port now...not that I've had any issues with that (having DI only)...I hope.

I'd look for a 2 years old ish sierra 1500 with the 5.3 that has stop and go engine shut off.  They can do 13.5L/100km and been around for a while.

How about a lightly used Frontier?  Don't think it's been mentioned yet.

No tech, just a cheap reliable truck.

That truck doesn't have the rating to pull that thing.

These were the numbers he provided. Also with the payload of the Frontier it wouldn't work.

4600 lb unloaded, typically 5200-5500 lb loaded.

Yeah, kinda close to the edge if you load up the truck.
Do you have any hills around? ;D

4618 lb unloaded, it’s often up to 5900 lb loaded, with 770 lb going on the hitch. I have over 200 lb alone up front with the batteries and propane tanks. Most of these Japanese midsize trucks have a low payload rating. Frontier is one of the better ones at 1400 lb but only a bit more than the Sequoia’s 1330 which was too little.

Honestly, the only thing that prompted this was I wanted to go camping on the weekend as an impromptu trip, but no Uhaul half tons were available. So I had all weekend to think what would’ve made things better. Now that it’s the work week again, I don’t care anymore. Well, until the next weekend.

Oh, so you’ve sold the Sequoia already? Yeah, if you have a travel trailer, then you kinda need a tow vehicle.

Weekends are too short to screw around with trying to get a rental. Maybe if you only used the trailer for two weeks every summer, and could plan ahead, but even then you may as well just rent an RV.

Sorry to say, but I see at minimum a 1/2-ton pickup in your future. Do it once, do it right.

Yeah, it's the cost of owning a decent size trailer.  A half ton comes with the territory, and along with that, shitty fuel economy.  If you wanna play, you gotta pay.  Don't get a half-assed tow vehicle, because you'll regret it like you regretted the Sequoia.

Could've bought sailor's ML350 diesel. Would've been a nice tow rig although it might've been in the shop every weekend :rofl2:

I’ve spent some time on the GM website pricing out vans. :shuffle:

It’s a really appealing option, if you can live without 4WD (my wife informs me we can’t.) Huge savings over a Suburban/Yukon XL.

I wonder why you don’t see more of these towing? Can even get them with a diesel, although not with the Allison tranny, IIRC.

Edit: Had to go back on the GMC website and build me another one of these things. Did I mention I really like them?  :rofl2:  Anyway, turns out the 6.6L Duramax went away in 2017, but the 2.8L diesel four is in there now. :shake: Can get the 6.6L gasser for 2021 though!

There are lots of the 3/4 ton vans pulling trailers here in Manitoba.  Mostly owned by Hutterites with large families.

I thought those things were available with AWD?

The new Transit does now.
