Shafts and belts are nicer for maintenance than a chain.

The V-Stars offer a lot of bang for buck. Or a Honda Shadow if you can go with a smaller engine.

+1 on ST1300 with ABS brakes. Will be cheap to insure in Alberta. Can’t go wrong with FJR and Concours if the safety net of ABS is not important to you. I personally saw an FJR with over 300k on it. All are shaft driven.

yea, the ST1300, FJR and Concours are kind of like Chevy 350s and Ford 302s...been around forever and just work...if you're looking for a sport touring machine, they're pretty tough to beat.
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

Thanks people. I email couple people, looking at an older 2001 bmw r1150 an honda ST and varadero.
if you are looking at older BMW units, i think you want the "RT" version (as in, R1200RT)...the non-RT versions are roadster style bikes.

the place around me has a few R1200RTs for sale.

this one looks nice for $7995...it has high kms, but everything this place sells is mint (fully reconditioned).

If you want reliability and lower servicing costs, I'd stay Japanese.

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

Your Highlander Hybrid was good for the same 3500 lb the Sienna was.

Plus... bastard, you know I had interest in your Sienna before.   :'(

I will still kindly help you find a sport tourer, with a huge grudge.

Oh, from what you described I wasn’t going to quite pay 3k lol. Wow. Ok not upset anymore.

I should’ve grabbed my brother’s old 09 Venza for $3500 though.

I emailed Couple bikes and might go see one tonight.  Now that i think about it i might not even own a helmet...lol.

What brand are those cool dorky helmet that are full face but you can swing the jaw section behind(i know nothing about helmet) and leave the shaded visor in front
Very few helmet of that style is both full safety rated as a full face and as a jet helmet. Shark Evoline 3 or the Shark One One.

Other helmets are flip, but aren't really designed to be ridden with the chin bar open.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Check out VFR800.

Great sport tourer and tons of character from that sweet engine.

Going to see an older bmw 1150rt. See if i like it. Right now im kind of interest in bmw boxer engines. Want to know how they feel.

I remember riding a Suzuki SV1000 and a  BMW Rockster back to back and preferring the BMW mill and bike quite a bit more.
Smoother than the V-twin.   I liked the way it rocked the bike a bit when revving it sitting still.

LS2 Valiant FF399 is also ECE rated in the open and closed position.

yea, you'll feel that in most bikes with engines mounted with the pistons facing out, although, i don't recall feeling it in the Goldwing...in any case, my buddy's old Silver Wing (bike, not scooter) did it, as do Moto Guzzi bikes (about the only one i can think of that uses a sideways V-twin).

You gotta be a moron to ride with the chin bar open though. Handy for going into shops etc. though
