Do you have many opportunities to go more than 180km/h where you live?  I have honestly no clue where the need to go faster than 180km/h would ever present itself.

Speed is not the answer here. You will die at 180 same as at 120. It is not up to the automaker to determine what speed I should be driving.

is china really communist?  sounds more and more like dictatorship judging by news.


but i guess really for volvo, it's easier to design cars to narrower limits since they said they are going all hybrid/electric .

fair point: Communist Dictatorship.

Just a matter of time before autos have automatic uploads to "Big Brother" if prescribed rules are being broken. That way automatic fines can be pulled from your accounts.

I’m no physicist, but I’m reasonably certain the speed of light doesn’t have much to do with a car crash.

Ek=1/2mv2 might be more relevant on the highway.  :)

It does when the car explodes and converts all mass into energy... also pretty sure you can derive the kinetic equation from the former...but admittedly its been a while for me :)

Not a big deal in Canada.  Can't imagine Volvo shoppers first priority is going faster than 180 anyway.

I know it's not a popular opinion for a car forum but unless it's a muscle/sports car that is taken to a track regularly, where would law abiding citizens need to go 180 kph? With this limit it will make the police' job easier when they chase a moron or a teenager or a drunk, and so public safety will benefit.

Probably means they will start putting lower speed rated tires  on their cars.   

It is OK tho' although my Volvo is a good car ( so far)  I am not convinced I'd buy another one.

I used to test top speed of all my cars and motorcycles; not anymore with the fines and basically loosing your driver licence over 160.

This being said I did push the FJR to 240, the HP2S to 230 (the pressure on the helmet was unbearable) and one of the S70 also to 240. My Celica Turbo too. All indicated, so you can probably take off 10-20km to this.

Used to be able to have a good stretch of highway to oneself, but that never happen anymore, except maybe at the beginning of the pandemic but traffic is already back to normal, or close to.
