Those bags of armour are actually handy for all kinds of sports. I use mine for longboarding, snowboarding, skiing, fat biking in the winter, etc

This is the way.

Yup! Visor is great when it's bright outside. No glare, no squinting, no eye strain. And much more optical clarity than looking through the drop down sun shade in my Shoei.

Thanks! Yeah - if I'm riding really early or late, it's the Shoei with the clear visor.  Middle of the day, it's this one.  If the Shoei transitions visor weren't 300 bucks  ::)  that would be a perfect solution.

I finally got a rip in my ancient Joe Rocket jacket.  Gotta shop for a good colder weather dual sport type jacket now.
I wonder if the Toronto bike shows will happen next year?

Does anyone still wear leather jackets with their street bike, or have textiles fully taken over?  Not talking about the fringes flying in the wind stuff you see on the Harley set.

If leather gets wet..Not good. Plus it is expensive for quality. Good old petroleum based jackets have taken over. The only leather "motorcycle" jackets are on the fashion runway.  ;D

^^ this.

plus, good leather jackets can also get pretty heavy...i've never owned a textile jacket, but they often seem lighter, offer great protection and will likely be more durable to withstand the weather...there's also the fact they come in a variety of styles and colours too, which is often more limited for leather.

My textile jacket is heavy especially once all the armour is installed. It isn't waterproof but it won't be ruined by water. It's also too damn hot to wear for 80% of the riding season season but I digress.

sure, but the armour would also add weight to a leather jacket too...i still have my leather jacket (no armor) and it's heavy...it's not even an expensive fancy one either.

I've always liked the heavy feel of leather.  And I assume for a MC jacket, the leather needs to be on the thick size for abrasion protection.  Leather for sure isn't waterproof - leather rain coats aren't a thing.  But if I'm riding in the rain that's entirely a matter of bad luck.

Not true.

Different types of leather provide different protection.

Kangaroo leather is very light/thin with outstanding abrasion resistance. Top shelf jackets and custom suits are made from this.

I had a set of race gloves made with goat skin.

Deer skin gloves are really nice balance of abrasion and lightweight. These are more water resistant than others.

I have two textile jackets and one leather. The textile ones are best for warm weather due to the humidity, they vent so well.

But there's nothing like the snug fit of a good leather jacket IMHO. Only for Spring and Fall though.

Man your 'accessory' budget must be going through the roof!  :rofl2:

I had a leather that was perforated from waist to shoulder. Again...I'm old and this was before textiles were popular.

It was definitely a summer only jacket..Was too cold in the spring or fall.

Not sure if they even make them that perforated any more (apart from racing suits)...as that seems to be the realm of mesh textile these days.
