We're buying it from the same used car dealer we bought our Altima and Grand Caravan from.

It's got new All Season Tires, new brakes, full maintenance history (two owner car, first was a lease, the second owner has owned it since then, and is a personal friend of the dealer - he sold it to them to buy an RDX).  Remote Start, and a full set of winter tires mounted on rims included.
Did you see what they would give you as trade in value for your old one?

Looks good! Should serve well for many, many years. The one big knob in the center of the dash is kinda odd, I guess other models had a screen there or something?

This gen of Civic has a small screen in the right side of the binnacle over the dash.  just above the right side driver's air vent.

Congrats on the new wheels, looks like a solid unit.

I think Canuck had a 2012, and maybe Seafoam does too?

There's this MINT, lower mileage 2016 Corolla for $11500 that I found, but it's a manual, and the wife said absolutely no manuals.  :(

https://www.autotrader.ca/a/toyota/corolla/winnipeg/manitoba/5_51716878_20140731152404408/?showcpo=ShowCpo&ncse=no&orup=1_8_8&pc=R2K%203Z3&sprx=100

NO manuals sucks, because I would have been willing to stretch the budget a little for this:

Alas, the 2012 Civic is truly the sensible choice, if a little boring.  I took another look at pricing on AutoTrader, and every Civic in the $10-$11k price range is around the same age/mileage as this one.  Some are the previous gen, but lower mileage.  I'm looking forward to the additional features you get in the newer gen car.  Plus I doubt any of those cars will be as clean/nice as this one.

Is the 2012 the model that existed for only one year before they did another major refresh?

If so, does that mean parts might be hard to come by?  Not that it will matter much, it should be a reliable car for you.

How much more would a 2013 have been?

And yeah boooo to no manuals. My wife mentioned the other day that she'd like another manual car.

The Civic sold last night.  $1000.  I had it listed for $1750.  Unsafetied, body damage, 330 000kms, multiple things wrong with it.  Realistically, I think there was only so much I was going to get for it.  I had multiple $1000 offers, and faced with the prospect of days and days of lower offers, just to finally get a unicorn who'd MAYBE give me $1500 for it, I just let it go for a grand.  Even included the winter tires, because I'll need room in my shed for the ones coming with the new car.  A mechanic bought it.  He'll fix it up and sell it for maybe $3500 safetied.  I didn't tell him about the power steering rack.  He mentioned it's got a pretty bad valve cover leak (which it does, as the engine is basically covered in oil), and I think he assumed the puddle on the ground was from that.

Shame, because driving it, it didn't feel like a $1000 car.  I would have had confidence taking the car on a roadtrip anywhere.  We'd just put those new el-cheapo tires on it, too.

Yes, and No.  It did only exist for one year, but the 2013 was merely a styling refresh, and really only the front/rear clips.  Mechanically, a 2012 is identical to a 2013.

I didn't see any 2013's in our price range when I looked.  I kept the budget under $12 500 on AutoTrader.

Congrats on the sale - that probably was a realistic price in the circumstances, if not the best price possible.

Agreed, given the issues I think $1000 was a good selling price given all it's issues.

Looking forward to hearing your impressions on the new(er) one and how it compares to the '08.

My friend has a similar coupe, but it has a sunroof. She'd sell it for ~$700 but doesn't want to deal with Kijiji weirdos.

To be fair, I think these cars basically sell themselves.  This one sold in a matter of hours.  Guy came and looked at it, drove it around the block, and gave me the money.

Haha that's what I told her, esp for $700. She said it's got some issues that are probably minor since she's still driving around in it.

The 2012 was panned when it first came out. Cheap plastics,no sound deadening, not enough features compared to Korean cars of the time.
In fact a lot of discussion about that on this very forum. Sir O said it had  mouse fir seat material and Djeff had his features comments.
The 2013 did have a bit of a styling refresh front and rear, better interior materials and a bit more sound deadening.
I have had mine for almost 10 years, no unpleasant repairs. After 10  we may look for something new.

Hmmmm,

https://www.jpsubaruregent.com/used/Scion/2016-Scion-iM-70b6abd30a0e08f705cbfff0769c7af7.htm

It's a manual, but it checks a lot of boxes:  Hatchback, an interesting colour, and tinted windows - all traits that my spouse has expressed interest in.  AND it's newer and lower mileage than the Civic.  I think all the manual cars are harder sells, so they're cheaper!

Doesn't look as clean as the Civic, though.

NM.  The Scion just sold.  Gets picked up today
