10+ years with an 09 WRX
« on: February 19, 2020, 07:22:32 pm »
Been a while since I've been here, but recently rolled over 272,000km. It's been a good run so far with this car. Stage 2 mods custom tune.  Super practical and still pulls hard. Body is holding out well. Only problem is release bearing is drying out and oil consumption rising.

Cheers
Andre

Awesome.  My STI hit 190K KM before I sold it and it was rock solid.
I've always been tempted. I really like these. Everyone I knew with one had some problems.

But I still want one...or an EV O X MR.

Either one will hoon enough to put a big smile on your face.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

They are not outrageously quick in a straight line but honestly, with the STI I felt that I could park it horizontal on a wall.  The traction is so good.  Plus the 2015+ have a chassis that could easily handle 500+ hp without being upset.

They'd be plenty amusing with the usual bolt-ons and a light tune.

In the winter, would be an absolute hoot.

With those 3 diffs, the best car I have every driven in the winter.  Bar none.

:censor: - you have me thinking I should get rid of the 2011 Honda Pilot winter car now....

I see Sti and EVO X MR for $12-$15k used.  Pretty compelling at that price point provided they are in good mechanical shape.

This would be a tempting winter beater IMO  https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/hamilton/2008-mitsubishi-evolution-x-mr/1489393555

Have you changed the coolant and added Subaru coolant conditioner lately?

Yes a few times, also changed at least 2 release bearings and one clutch as well as steering rack. Have had 2 tickets for the Magnaflow exhaust though :) Car had a stage 2 tune with a 19 psi boost target at 60k. Looking at possibly a new Golf R or new STi when it comes out.

Cheers!
Andre

Glad you're still enjoying your WRX!
