Maybe I'm in a bad mood today.

But.

The gross exaggeration of poor German reliability on this forum is ridiculous. As is the immediate assumption that the person purchasing must only be concerned about the badge.

Jesus, I'm by no means suggesting that picking up an eight year old 7 series is a good idea but if the car is new or CPO I'm a little confused to what the issue it. I know a lot of guys (including a bunch on this forum) who have German cars out of warranty and it's fine.

For sure the German reliability is no Toyota - but now owning a German car I can certainly understand the trade off. For example, the ML350 is in a different ballpark in comparison to the MDX - both in terms of tangible and intangible items.

As for this 2 series, yeah it's not beautiful by any means but as Tortoise said show me any small sedan that looks beautiful. They all look pretty homely IMO.

Ugly ugly ugly. I really hope they don't screw up the coupe.

The coupe is at least still going to be RWD though it wouldn't shock me if it has xDrive standard in Canada.

There's nothing inherently wrong with competing in this market. The new CLA seems to be a great product. But like Shane said, this thing looks like a Kia. There's really nothing that attractive about it and it certainly doesn't look like a BMW. It's also not particularly cheap, although it does undercut the 3-series by almost $7k. To me the CLA at the same price is a lot more appealing. Or save some money and get the A250 hatch.

BMWs small cars have been all downhill from here:

I think the 2 Series coupe is the best looking recent BMW. Perfect size and proportions. A CPO M240i will be my next car.

The 1 series is kinda of awkward looking at certain angles... It looks kinda like a bull dog. I still like mine though. I appreciate mine a lot more after driving my girlfriend's 2019 Impreza CVT all week.

Never heard anyone say the 1-Series was "great looking."  ???  I've heard it compared to a pregnant cow and a pot bellied pig, though.  :rofl2:

Ugly or not, it's still the only BMW I'd like to own.

Lol, its ugly

I dunno about ugly, I like the side profile.  And I love that it's the last of the analog BMWs, it seems like it would be so much more rewarding as a driver's car than the newer models.

have you driven the M2, Rrocket?  Or, for that matter, the current-gen M3?  They're really, very good and very engaging to drive.

Listen here, I don't want any facts getting in the way of my conjecture.

All I know is my Father-in-law's F30 was nowhere near as fun to drive as his E90.

Stumbled on the fact that BMW theoretically offers the FWD 228i in Canada for 2021. I say theoretically because there isn't a single one in stock across the country.

This is also a zero option car. You get to choose between non-metallic black or white. That's literally the only choice they give you. It's actually better equipped than I would have expected – Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, auto dimming mirrors, power heated seats with memory, auto climate control, LED headlights with auto high beams, and front and rear PDC are all standard. You save just shy of $4k over the equivalent xDrive model which also has the sport line exterior and a sunroof.

I wonder if they will actually sell any of these. I assume no dealer is going to stock them.

Not sure about the body shape of this one. But I'd love an M2, or even a 240i looks good. It's a lot of performance for the money, and probably better to drive than a 3 series in the twisties.

Very interesting.  They seem to be doing this on a few models now (see the 330e RWD, for instance, which is the cheapest 3 series you can buy in Canada).  I suspect some of the bigger dealers may order one in so they can advertise against it, then plan to up-sell anyone who comes in for one.  Hell-bent on it?  Fine, order one and wait 2 months.
