I test rode a Ryker and it was so AWESOME. It was like real life Mario Kart. The centre of gravity is low so no stability issues whatsoever, but you can still lean into a turn. If I had $11k, I'd buy one in a heart beat. Hopefully there are lots of used examples in a few years.

900 or 600??
Both a 600 and Rally (900) I think. You can’t go wrong with either engine, I was smiling from ear to ear with both.

I also tried one of those big Spyders, they were meh.

Hmm... no kidding eh?  Gotta admit, I've always looked at the Spyders with disdain, but the Rykers do look somehow cooler.  I've never tried either, but I'm intrigued to try the Ryker.

The Spyder is more beefy and looks more like the rider sits on top of it. The Ryker is somehow lower and more lithe and ride sits in it rather on top of it. I dunno but it does less more appealing.

Spyder is more familiar to snowmobile riders I think, the Ryker is an attempt to get more motorcyclists interested

Halving the price must help too

The Ryker is going after the younger crowd especially those who are too scared to consider motorcycles if you look at their marketing material. It's so fun. You can lean into turns to keep weight on the inside wheel for better traction but the low centre of gravity makes it almost unnecessary. Just remember to steer and not countersteer into the turns. It does sit low and I was concerned with how low the foot pegs were when I first got on but not an issue once in motion.

From what I've seen, 3 wheelers are for older folks who have usually dropped their bike accidentally and moved over to a more senior friendly machine.

Does the Ryker lean?

If not, how is it different from the regular crappy Can-am experience?

Give me a Carver One if that's the direction.

I saw one in real life at Le Mans, would love to have a go in one.

It's neat.

But for me, I'd rather have the Ryker.

I'd rather the open-air experience and wind blowing through my hair type of thing.

Plus the cost of the thing sure puts a huge damper on it for me.  I'd rather a Vanderhall for that cheddar.

As I said, it’s like riding a street legal go-kart. Don’t knock the Ryker until you’ve tried it. It’s so much fun.

Yup...I've read the motorcycle websites reviews and they all said it was fun.

Not so much these, the ones you're talking about are usually two wheels at the back and are retrofitted Harleys and Gold Wings.

These are more popular in provinces that allow them to be driven with a regular non-motorcycle license.

Three wheel machines don't make any sense. All the drawbacks of a bike married with all the drawbacks of a car with the intention of trying to lure people too afraid or too uncoordinated to ride regular motorcycles. The biggest drawback is the inability to avoid most street imperfections. One of you wheels will hit something  ;D  One of the handiest aspects to a bike in the city is the ability to park nearly anywhere. With this? Nope, to the regular car lot with you unless you have a hanging blue tag. At least you don't have to pick it up if it falls over.

Oh and the positive bike magazine reviews? They love everything, it is their livelihood.

Nothing wrong with marketing to a group who want to ride but otherwise can't or won't.

And I'm quite sure I'd find it fun...I've always had a great time on sleds, ATVs, UTVs...

OK I will live with them but only if you need a class 6 to operate them and you  take and pass  your test on a two wheeled machine.  ;)

In Ontario, you still need a motorcycle license.

I got behind a gang of old guys riding 3-wheel Harleys on a pockmarked back road a couple of year ago in the roadster and it was painful.  They were slowly meandering around every pothole and didn’t even attempt to get outta the way.  Nothing worse to get behind on country roads imo.  At least tractors and most other slow moving traffic will move over and let people by.  Not old guys on Harleys.  ::)
