Very cool!  Congrats!
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...

Congrats on a rare and well kept find. This would make for a great hiking truck for me.

Those are great looking trucks. I've never had a Frontier, but had a 2006 Pathfinder, loved the powertrain, my only complaint was the thirst. I can't remember last time I saw a Suzuki version.

1) Even if it has a tranny cooler it still may have the integrated rad. That was to warm the fluid up. It looks like there is a trailer brake controller so I would have a look at tranny fluid. What is with (and what does it say?) the large lettering on the doors?

Looks good. The front end almost looks 4th gen Dakota.

Congrats! The interior is in great shape for a truck with nearly 300K on it. Should be a good workhorse.

SWT,  Suzuki Works Techno,   no idea if it's factory or maybe added at the dealer.  Never saw it on any others.

So I was just in the driveway fixing the top brake light, (remove bulb, add dielectric grease, reinstall, it works, yay) and a truck stops across the street, a guy gets out, crosses the street and asks if he can take a picture of my truck because he's never seen one before and it looked good.

Confirms how ugly current truck styling is.

Truck needs a few things for a safety.  I knew about some problems, they added a few more.
Nothing crazy, of course more things than I'd have liked:

* windshield as there's a repair that's cracked a little further than it could,
* rear brakes,
* driver's side tail-light (cracked),
* exhaust leak
* ball joint
* fog lights inop
* driver's window regulator wonky
* clock spring for driver's airbag

On the way to get the safety the HVAC blower  turned itself to high and stayed there, so I added a resistor pack to the list.

So, apart from the windshield it's about $350 in parts and $100 to get them here.  I'll do much of it myself, but I hate exhaust work so I'll get my shop to do some of it.
I figured it would be about $1k to get it on the road legally, looks like I'm in the ballpark.   Newer Ontario safety inspections are tougher.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing  :think:

I know we got the kids Mazda 3 safetied last June with inoperable fog lights.

Agreed that fog lights seems like an odd item to include on a safety as some cars don't even have any.

I was just going to comment All of the above.

What if you were to just remove the fog lights from their housing?  Then they're not inoperable, they're just not equipped?  You could always put them back in after just to fill the holes.

Yeah, I asked, if they are on the vehicle, they have to work.  Hopefully just bulbs.
Ontario might have gone a little overboard on their last safety inspection regulations.

Or maybe the shop you went to?? Like I said, Canadian Tire safetied the kid's Mazda 3 last June with fog lights that didn't work... we've fixed them since then, but at the time they didn't work... so that's a head scratcher  :think:

It could be anything.  The switch, the relay, bulbs.  If it's more than just bulbs, take them off.

Cool truck.  It's unique, but also, because it's a Frontier, parts will be readily available and cheap.

I'm guessing it was an American-sold truck?  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it was ever sold here?

They seem to be more popular in Quebec, I found 3 for sale there, all appearing to be in decent condition.
Quebec folks are much more likely to buy unusual cars from unusual manufacturers.   There are a lot of Suzukis, Reneaults, etc. out there.

Suzuki Canada even authorized work to be done at some places, nearest to me is a Kia dealer in Carleton Place that used to be a Suzuki dealer

There used to be one in my neighborhood, and yes we still have plenty of VW Routans around  ;D
