There is a big range between 'achey back', and 'paralyzed by spasms like lightning bolts' for sure

This.

There were days when physically just getting IN the car was impossible.

I mean...if you can't even put socks on or need help getting in/out of bed....you aren't slinking into a sports car.

A variety of those things is why I got rid of the Golf R after 2 months.

I got notification this morning that the Macan is on a ship headed to the port in Halifax.  So far the first six stages have been completed right on the earliest side of the estimates.
You forgot about the story about your European delivery! LOL [emoji38]

I wish, I’ve read about that experience and it sounds amazing!  If I’m ever in the situation of buying new again, I’d definitely try to schedule that in.

I've done BMW's M European Delivery tour and it's spectacular. My wife and I have a goal to do either BMW or Porsche's someday. There are rumblings that the G99 M5 Touring will be sold in North America so if that happens, we're going to order one to do the trip.

Didn't BMW end Euro delivery during COVID and never bring it back?

Yes

. I might be getting old because while it's a sensational daily in every sense of the word, it's actually quite a b*tch to get in and out of.

The reason I sold my Boxster. That sucker was low!

And my janky back wasn't having it.

Broke my heart as it was absolutely wonderful to drive.

Dammit.

The Spyder RS is one incredible looking machine, but I didn't realize it has a different top from the regular Spyder.  I almost thought this was a joke when I started watching! :o

It's funny; some brands get shat on for charging over sticker (i.e. markups on Highlanders, Tellurides, etc.) like they're out there murdering people, while Porsche gets away with it through franchise stores.

In speaking with my Lexus dealer in the past couple of weeks, they are prohibited from corporate for selling any used inventory as retail sales for a dollar over MSRP, regardless of demand. So if they were to accept, say, an IS 500 Launch Edition or even an LFA on trade, they could only auction it (where a third party dealer undoubtedly would snatch it up for well over sticker) and not sell it to a retail customer.

Interesting. So when supplies were tight there must not have been much incentive for them to actually keep used cars on the lot. Kind of an unintended consequence I guess.

Could the dealer possibly list it on something like Bring-a-trailer and thus get closer to full retail customer $$ and still abide by the corporate policy I wonder?

I wonder if this in turn lowers the trade in value the dealer is willing to accept for these kinds of vehicles.

More unintended consequences!

I dunno, this is why I don't really care if "used" in demand cars go for more than unobtainable new ones. Just let the market speak.

None of us were complaining when cars were plentiful and you could get good deals. Gotta take the good with the bad.  :)

Macan arrived at the dealership yesterday! (even though the tracker said it was still in Halifax)  Sales rep is on vacation this week, so I guess I'll be getting it sometime next week.  Not a bad timeline considering I put the deposit down May 9 and it was delivered Aug 1

That's not bad of a turnaround at all.  Looking forward to seeing the show and shine.

Yup, there was a while where I had a sharp pain every time I pushed the clutch.   Getting into and out of the Sparco seats takes some effort too.   Glad it hasn't acted up for a while.   The Miata, while also low, isn't nearly as bad.

Yeah where the heck has he been? I expect him to pick me up and take me for a rip - he was one of the first to drive my IS 500!
