Sweet!

The 90 day clock times out when?  August 11 or so?

Yes!
I love it when a plan comes together.

Not to me. It’s been years in the making and I’m swamped with work.

When I get back from the UK it will be ready :)

Love the green accents in the interior.  Can't wait to see the proper show and shine.

That looks awesome.

It's sad that the 718 is dying soon.

That's an amazing colour combo!

My Macan has finished production and been released for transport, so far right on schedule

So I have a line on a good friend's '97 993 Targa. Widebody car, smoke silver on light grey interior. He's the original owner, about 84,000km, not a huge fan of the colour but it's a full history car and been serviced at my place for a couple decades.

I could have this car significantly below market value; we're talking 30-40%. There's a part of me that's thinking of unloading the 964 while the values are still insane, pocketing $100k or so, and putting that towards an investment pile that I'm calling "The Diablo Fund".

I subjectively prefer the 964 (especially the spec of mine, and the story behind this particular car) to the 993, but this would still allow me to own an air-cooled, timeless car and make some $$.

Thinking about it.

If you sell that 964 (to anyone but me, who can't afford it anyway), we're no longer friends.

I guess the question is, are you in LOVE with your 964 to the point that you're willing to give up profits to keep it.  If you can buy the other 911 for under the market value (which I doubt will go down much in the future) and at the same time flip the 964 for a profit, I think it's a no brainer.  Get that money, buy that car, and keep that gravy train moving.  Think of it this way, with the extra funds in that Diablo fund you'll be able to make a quicker decision and move if something comes up.

993 Targas were all narrow body from the factory. Only coupes came in widebody from the factory (C2S or C4S). In any event, it sounds like a nicely sorted car. I do prefer the old fashioned Targas over the glass roof styles from the 993 through 997 generations. It seems like the market for both 964s and 993s are still very strong, and this could be a good time to try something different.

Huh; that's interesting about the narrow body. I can't say I've seen the car in a year; I just happened to ask the guy to confirm that it's a wide body or a narrow, and he said wide. Guy could definitely be wrong, and my quick research online confirms what you're saying. I think I'm out; the only way I'd want a 993 is if it were a wide body.
