Well, officially signed the deal. 2023 Cayman GTS 4.0 manual. Now the wait. Expected delivery is August 31, 2023, which includes the 90 days the car will sit, mostly locked up, on the dealers showroom.

So all in all, two years from demand order to an actual car.

Whoa!  Absolutely epic.  Most of the exotics out there do nothing for me at all. The Cayman GTS 4.0 with a stick shift is pretty much my absolute dream car. Congrats!
Sweet!! Looking forward to the show & shine in August!

Well it will be on show at the dealership for 90 days lol

But yes, and will be available for drives to anyone on the forum...
I love it when a plan comes together.

Why does the car sit at the dealer for 90 days?

Why does the car sit at the dealer for 90 days?

That is likely the one allocation the dealer will get, basically a showcase model. The deal is I can buy the car but it has to have a lot of "exclusive options", which is mostly a sweet full leather interior with deviated stitching, and it sits in the dealership for 90 days. The idea is that sales staff can show potential customers what can be done / optioned by Porsche and show them on an actual car. Nobody will drive it and it will mostly sit on the floor locked unless they want to show something particular to a customer.

After that I take possession. This is the only way I'm afraid.

So the dealership can actually dictate to and force the customer to pay for options that they may not want on their car that is custom ordered?  What a crazy time in the car industry.

Basically. But think of it this way. If I don't take this car:

1. Line-up of folks on the list that will
2. Dealer takes car, uses it for a few km, and sells it used for likely $20 - 30K more

This isn't a Camry. Some of these cars are so unique that an allocation means instant profit if one were inclined to flip it. Agree not a great environment, but it is what it is.

That's exactly how you have to look at it, as well, you'll get to enjoy the interior upgrades that you likely wouldn't have ordered and not lose any money on them in the big picture.  That blue Spyder I looked at today had 800km's and they're asking $200k, a quick head totaling of the options would have it around the $140's MSRP.  They also had a couple "used" GT3's that were $400k.  It's going to be a LONG time for the market to normalize on these unique models if it ever does with electric coming.  The hardest part for me would be waiting the damn 90 days during summer!  ;D

Exciting stuff. Just sucks that you'll only get it at the end of the summer. Will make for some nice fall drives though.

Congrats!  Such a beautiful car. I might have to make the trip down to Oakville to check it out. Will they give me free coffee/scones?

By time you take the car home it will already be worth $50K more.  ;D
