Got some good news from the dealer today. I’ll be getting what likely will be the only GTS they’ll get.

With one caveat. This will be the dealer’s manufacturer exclusive car. Meaning it will have to sit in the dealer’s showroom for 90 days. And will showcase lots of $$$ leather interior options. February build slot.

Sweet!  Despite the options they want to showcase, I assume you get to make the call on colours and wheels??

Congrats! Do you know what color it's going to be yet?

Thanks. Arctic Grey, which is a new colour for the cayman in 2023. You see it on the RS and Cayenne GT
I love it when a plan comes together.

They said there is some wiggle room. But my sense is not much. So not ideal.

Having said that, the spec they put together is pretty solid, and I’m not just saying that. It will be very tasteful and unique, apropos for what likely will be the last of the gas Caymans.

First, arctic grey colour, unique to this year. Interior is full on black leather with complete deviated stitching in lizard green with lizard green seatbelts. Everything else is black, including the callipers, which is what I wanted.

Like I mentioned, this will likely be the only GTS they get as production line is focused on Spyders and GTRS models. Plus apparently Porsche canceled PTS for next year due to production issues.

Lastly, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, seems appropriate here :)

If no delays, car will be in my driveway late summer! Then rides for all.

Man, I know it’s not exactly what you would have wanted, but it’s pretty darn close.  I assume it’ll be a manual?  Once you have all the details and options, can you post the build code so we can view it virtually.

The options that you listed sound like pretty safe and non offending things overall.  I’m sure there are some upgrades you weren’t necessarily looking for but it’s also a great excuse to make the upgrades.  Plus you have a good 7-9 months to save up and get everything in order for your dream car.

I know it’s unlikely, but with the requirement of it being in their showroom for 90 days with options you might not have picked, are they going to do anything over and above for you, free oil change, car cover, something?  Or is it one of those situations where you have to just feel lucky they picked you?

^^ Going above and beyond is just getting the car :) I’m super grateful. And yes manual absolutely. I do have some room to make it my own and based on the starting point it will be spectacular!

That’s a great spec.   The lime green touches are perfect to spice up the grey and black.   Would be really nice to have lime green brake calipers but maybe that’s not a thing?

Amazing car.  Would definitely be my choice for a true sportscar that is (sort of) attainable for non-oligarchs.  Well done!

I think Porsche green brake callipers are associated with their hybrid/PHEV/EV models.

Yes, only caliper colour option is black, with red being standard. Actually I suppose yellow is as well if you get the $9000 carbon ceramics.

They one thing I may change is the back model designation from "718 Cayman GTS" to "718"

Also, since I put in my order last year, no luxury tax!

Really…that’s a nice loophole.

Well, officially signed the deal. 2023 Cayman GTS 4.0 manual. Now the wait. Expected delivery is August 31, 2023, which includes the 90 days the car will sit, mostly locked up, on the dealers showroom.

So all in all, two years from demand order to an actual car.

That’s exciting, Congrats!

I was at Porsche this morning dropping the Macan for service and saw this gorgeous 718 Spyder.  I’d be pretty tempted if it weren’t for the PDK or the $200k price!

Whoa!  Absolutely epic.  Most of the exotics out there do nothing for me at all. The Cayman GTS 4.0 with a stick shift is pretty much my absolute dream car. Congrats!
