Not long ago, my brother and I were talking about how low 968 prices are. Well, no more.

An 8k mile 1992 968 coupe in an admittedly lovely combination of Amethyst Metallic over Light Gray Cloth W/Magenta Accents just sold on BaT for... $164,000

Do you think some day Porsche SUVs will be collectable and appreciate in value?

I kind of agree with that, but what happens in 10 years when all their vehicles are EVs but the 911.  Then I could see some older V8 models appreciating, maybe not to the point of surpassing their original MSRP, but maybe going from $20k to $40k might happen.

Pricy (obviously) but kinda nice...997.2 S convertible, full brown leather interior, manual.

It just highlights how good of a deal that The Hire's Sr. got for his Panamara.  Have you heard anything from the dealer since you placed your deposit for the Cayman?

It's a good deal because nobody wants them, relatively speaking of course.

Haven't heard anything from the dealer. I'll probably wait it out this year anyway, put away a bit more, and if nothing materialized by early next year I'll look at the used car market and overpay.

In the meantime, the 2007 Camry will keep me busy :)

Probably a good plan.  You were always going to have to wait until 2023 to get an allocation for a new one regardless.  Plus the chances of a dealer swap, or a customer backing out on these vehicles are highly unlikely so it's basically used market (which is crazy) or factory order.  Have you noticed if the prices have gone up any?  With your deposit do you get the price locked in or is it just a spot in line for the next allocation?

Yes, last time I played with the configurator looks like the price went up by a little bit, or they included stuff that wasn't before. Small change anyway. I'm assuming price would lock in when / if I get an actual allocation.

I'd have no issue living with all that red... and it's not too bad of a price when 997.2's are in the same range FFS!! https://www.autotrader.ca/a/porsche/911/smiths%20falls/ontario/5_54443918_20200512183426304/?showcpo=ShowCpo&ncse=no&ursrc=hl&orup=5_15_18&pc=K2C%202H8&sprx=100&modalXS=1

Paying the low KM and manual premium on that one. And it's generally just a good spec with the sport seats and sport chrono.

I don't get that dealer at all - it's about 30 mins west of Ottawa and I drive past it a lot. A "regular" Chrysler/Ram place with a dozen used Porsches, including a $650k GT2??? They've also got a 2004 911 with 100k that they are asking $50k for that's been there well over a year... and that they originally wanted $70k for ... very odd.
