How in the hell can the insurance on the Boxster be less than the Prius?
Boss!
Likely age of vehicle and battery vehicles more expensive to repair.
Railton
But the value of the Porsche is significantly more than a Prius?
you can't go by that...my brand new $50k Venza was $8 more per year than my 10 year old Kia Rio5 (which is worth 1/10th what the Venza cost).

Would be cool to see the algorithm that the insurance companies use when comparing two vehicles. Wonder if they use some Bayesian methods that make use of historical data to predict future outcomes.

By the way, awesome looking Boxster.

I think it comes down to the type of driving the two vehicle types do:

Most Coxsters spend most of their time safely cocooned away in a garage, and only driven on weekends in perfect conditions by enthusiast drivers who place great pride in their driving ability, and take great pains not to get involved in accidents.  Most are also not winter driven, therefore usually won't be out in snowy or icy conditions where accidents/collisions abound.

A Prius, on the other hand, is a commuter car, driven by people of all kinds of driving skill (or lack thereof).  They get driven at all hours of the day, in every condition imaginable.  Worse yet, they are primarily used by taxi drivers, therefore a typical Prius could very well see 100 000kms/year, greatly increasing the likelihood of being involved in a collision or accident.

Don’t we have an Insurance Underwriter on the forum from Manitoba that could add his expertise?

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

Triumph is 225$/yr with Hagerty. Of course, algorythms demonstrate that vintage British tin spend most of their time parked with hood open.

On a scale of 1-10 how excited are you about getting this Porsche?  1 being your least favorite vehicle ever and 10 being your most favorite vehicle you have owned.

Love that colour combo with the red top.

Although if I owned it the top wouldn't be up much.

I don't think the top was up on this one much, when I went to look at it for Ron the owner said it spent most of the time with the roof down, even in the garage at home  :rofl2:

Nice! Pretty sure I saw this one advertised and agree it was a great price. This would likely be the one I would get if I went with a pre-2009 model. The IMS stuff concerns be as the 2004-08's are much harder to fix aren't they, though also much less likely to let go?

This is terrible to say..but a 6-7?
