I can't remember if you've been through this already on this thread, but why not start with a really nice Boxster/Cayman instead, and trade up every few years?
Yes, I may do that. Only drawback with a Boxter, which is what I'd prefer, is no room for the dog. Laugh all you want
but for drives I'd like to take my wife and the dog along...
I think I may do what I did last summer and rent a 911 / Boxster for a few day
Same problem with us and the Z3M. Have to get a sitter to go for a drive.
Time to amp up the seat count.
I once saw a Boxer poke its head up from between the seats on a Vette convertible. No idea what he was sitting on but looked hilarious. ![Grin ;D](https://www.autos.ca/forum/Smileys/CarTalk/grin.gif)
Same problem with a Miata, dog or passenger, not both. Bella likes to go for rides with me in it, Beetle thinks cars should have roofs and won't get in it.
I used to drive around with Tater in the back of my 911, she didn't like it much but there are dog seats, until the roll-bar went in.
But yeah, why not get an older Porsche and trade up eventually, like, a 944S2 convertible is a nice car and isn't going to depreciate.
Another thing, it's a lot less worry to take a sub-$20k car to the track vs a $50k car.
