In the late 60's and early 70's I would sit in the backseat of my Dad's car on the way to the cottage. The whole family usually packed in the car for those trips. We would normally drive up Yonge St. past Newmarket. There was a Volkswagon dealer there which happened to be great for the backseat game of 'count the Bugs' for the length of the trip. As years past that Volkswagon dealer got himself a Porsche dealership as well.
From time to time I would see ice Green 911's parked on the lot for sale.
At the time I thought that it was the most beautiful color for a car.
The Porsche dealer was pfaff.

Last year, I have been tempted by (another type of) green cars too  8)

Brown 997.2 cabrio...love the colour combo on this one...

https://www.autotrader.ca/a/porsche/911/vaughan/ontario/5_50382657_on20080128101817289/

Looks like they also have a brown 997.2 coupe...4S, PDK for $69K

https://www.autotrader.ca/a/porsche/911/vaughan/ontario/5_50426855_on20080128101817289/?showcpo=ShowCpo&ncse=no&ursrc=hl&orup=2_15_19&sprx=-1

How much would that have been new?  I really like the colour combo, but I just can't see myself spending that kind of money for a 12 year old, 80K km car.  I don't follow pricing though so I have no idea if that's good or not

That seems like a pretty fair deal for a 997.2 4S with 80K. Winter driven? Seat memory?
I agree with Shorlaw though - seems pretty rich for a 12 year old car with 80K on it. The only saving grace is that it wont depreciate much over time if you keep the mileage low and maintain it.

The way that car is spec'd it was probably around $125 - $140k CDN before tax...

Speaking of Porsche, I just called the Oakville dealership to make an appt for the Macan's first service and had the VIN handy to provide, only to be told "before we can book that appt, we'll need you to provide photo ID, as well as a copy of the ownership"  WTF?  Are there a lot of thieves looking to bring their stolen Porsche in for service?

Is it from the same dealer you bought your Macan from?  Would seem weird if that's the case.  Can't say I've ever had a dealer ask for copy of ownership, they've always just been happy to take my money.

It is rich, but the bottom for good condition 997s, either .1 or .2, seems to be ~$50k.

I still like the cabrio S better, which although $4k more, has less than 40,000 km.

No, it didn't come from them, but that's never been an issue with any other vehicle I've had.  On second thought though, I wonder if it's a Covid thing so that everything is entered into their system in advance so that you're not passing them anything when you arrive.

I mean, isn't the VIN, phone number, name, address and license plate enough?

I like the colors...I like the spec.  Missing the rear badges though?

https://www.autotrader.ca/a/porsche/911/north%20york/ontario/5_50077407_on20071217113316750/?showcpo=ShowCpo&ncse=no&ursrc=hl&orup=4_100_278&pc=N9H%201X3&sprx=-1

Agree. However, that dealership always seems to have some very interesting specimens at very reasonable prices...almost too good to be true prices. I don't know, something about that place. Maybe its just high km cars or maybe accident cars...or both. Or maybe its just me.

Even if I’m being ridiculous I think I’d rather pay more for peace of mind that I was buying from a reputable place that would have my back.

Great in theory, but if you're looking for something like a 911 and are picky about options and colours I think you've just gotta do your due diligence and perhaps roll the dice.

Not sure I'd want a 911 with possible rear crash damage.

Hence the due diligence.

I'm not sure,  it's either that dealership, or one in that same area very much like it, that I almost bought an Outback VDC from years ago.    Deal was over when I noticed the odometer was moving in miles, not kilometres, as they had  just swore up and down it was.

likely why Pfaff Porsches are priced at the higher end of the market...they're likely mint examples of said vehicles...ones they don't want end up at some of the other dealerships (not saying this one in particular as i'm not familiar with them).
