I wonder how many 911s are sold with zero options.  I would totally rock a base model 911 with no options, I'd wear that like a badge of honor.  When I would get together with other Porsche owners I would give them a hard time about spending so much on options.

And I'd give you a hard time about not getting things like sport seats, sport chrono, rear axle steering, a decent stereo, etc.  :P

He's looking at 4Runner's now. That may deplete the fund a little.

That's a nice spec. Just missing the sport chronology package, but I'd prioritize the sport seats over that. I don't think I've ever seen a 997 with those base wheels. The vast majority were optioned with 19s. I'd look for some lobster claws for it. I've always loved those wheels.

Yup, I'd do the same, nice set of lobster claws for daily use & then put some sticky track tires on the 18's and rock those on lapping days/nights.

A small part of me just wants to blow the entire amount on a new TRD Offroad...but I need to cool my head

Actually, I'm starting to think that a two vehicle solution would be good: 4Runner & 911

I really like the 4Runner

Guards red + sport seats + lobster claws is basically my dream spec for a 997. Preferably with PASM, sport chrono, and sport exhaust too.

Aftermarket exhaust can be nicer than the stock sport exhaust, especially on the 997.2... the Shark Werks muffler bypass is an excellent upgrade.... then for suspension going with Bilstein coilovers is a great upgrade on non PASM equipped cars, or even just Techart springs.

987.2 is the more analog driver. It's the better drivers car IMO...

At least that was my impression.

The 991 is the better car overall...but with all that refinement it's lost a little "something".

YMMV.

I'd happily buy and drive either.
